Back to school means we’re lining up the instruments in our free Music for Schools lending library and getting them ready to send to local schools, where music teachers will put them into the hands of students eager to play them. Music for Schools has collected, repaired, and maintained more than 1000 instruments -- from trombones, violins, trumpets, guitars, flutes, and nearly everything in between – and then loaned them completely free of charge to thousands of students since its inception in 2000. These students, who might not otherwise have an opportunity to learn music, have the chance to join their classmates and participate in their school music program for the entire school year. Last year, Music for Schools served 875 students in 34 programs. And we all know what a difference that can make!

Scene Study Class
Instructed by Sandra Ish
September 3 - October 9
Tues/Thurs: 4:30-6:00pm
Ages 12-17
Tuition: $250
Scene study is the careful examination of a script in order to bring it to vibrant life! Through scene study, an actor can better understand the characters, relationships, and actions presented in the play. In this class, the student will learn how to engage in a thorough reading and analysis of the script, discovering the circumstances, objectives, and subtext of the story. It is fun and exciting which is why, for many actors, scene study is their favorite part of the actor's process!

Vocal Study Class
Instructed by Katie Foster
September 5 - October 10
Mon/Thurs. 4:30-6:00pm
Ages 8 - 12 yrs.
Tuition: $300
This class, taught by Katie Foster, is similar to a voice lesson, with the added element of performance. The students are assigned songs to work on and perform in front of the teacher and classmates. The teacher then offers suggestions to improve their performance and/or technique in a safe, supportive learning environment. Students will receive a practice recording. Thereafter, each student will present their work to the class in 15-20-minute "performances,” and are then given feedback and encouragement for improvement. The class will end in a presentation for families and friends.
