I finally got Gary on! We first communicated back in early 2016 about the possibility of him coming on the show. As a rule, he only does interviews about books that are freshly published, which is very understandable, especially when in the middle of a new project. One of my Patrons, Megan commented on Patreon that "hell has no fury like a woman scorned", and in Laura Fair's case, I think she is right on the mark!

Close to midnight on May 17, 1951, four north Alabama lawmen drove to a bootlegger’s home to serve an arrest warrant. Before the clock struck twelve, the bootlegger lay dead in front of the house he shared with his wife and eight children, and three of the four officers were also dead. Afterward, ...

My guest this week is Alex Hortis, who talks in depth about the tragic events known in 1844 as the "Christmas Night Murders" (even though they very likely happened the day before Christmas Eve day).

On Christmas night, December 25, 1843, in a serene village on Staten Island, shocked neighbors discovered the burnt remains of twenty-four-year-old mother Emeline Houseman and her infant daughter, Ann Eliza.Continue readingPolly Bodine: The Witch of New York w/ Alex Hortis
