G Jones stopped by Royal Oak, Michigan on his North American leg of the Paths tour.

Check out how he brought down the house! 🎼

EDM bass producer G Jones visited Royal Oak, Michigan on his North American leg of the Paths tour. G Jones, whose real name is Greg, specializes in producing a unique blend of “mental minesweeper” music, composed mainly of breakcore, acid house, electronica, dubstep, grime and trap. Following a ...

Settling into the Hollywood Theatre was a little more difficult than usual. The standing room only crowd was poised and ready to go for BC’s island boy Jesse Roper. He’s not accustomed to this sort of reception anywhere else but Vancouver Island. “Hollywood Theatre sounds fancy! Don’t play a...

The night ebbed and flowed, revealing that Inhaler is not a one-trick pony. They can play the energetic banger, just as well as the moody ballad, and the proof is the fan reaction. At this point in the game, an encore can feel like a foregone conclusion, but with this crowd, it felt sincerely necessary.

It was almost a year to the day that Inhaler had been rocking Vancouver at the historic Commodore Ballroom. In that time the band has toured relentlessly all the while putting out a new album. This stalwart work ethic exudes throughout their show, and supporting the new album “Cuts and Bruises,”...

It was an 80s music video kind of night. Loud, with a little glow that didn’t give me an escape but it coloured the walls with something magical. Which is something that only they hold. It’s dream-like and real-life. It’s the kind of art that makes anything and everything feel slightly closer to finding its silver-lining. And it’s this subtlety and genius that made me unsurprised to see every kind of Vancouverite represented in that room.

The stage lit up green and blue like the beginning of a sci-fi drama. The squeals of instruments pumped energy into the people standing, sitting, crowding in corners, and leaning on staircases. The place was packed. “I know you’re back, I saw your sister at the pharmacy, picking up. Said you had...

Panic! At the Disco is one of those rare bands that survived the emo era. In fact, they did more than survive, they flourished in the last few years, and Seattle’s stop-over for the Viva Las Vengeance tour showed me exactly why. Full disclosure I’m a human who generally listens to A Fever You Ca...

"Cameron Lew, the beautiful brains and visionary behind the musical persona of Ginger Root, brings with him not only a perfect performance but also low-key undercutting comedy. You really get a grasp of his personality when on stage. In between each song, small anecdotes and run-on comments would be thrown around, accompanied by appreciative laughter throughout the whole venue."

Part of the reason why I love wholesome music and musicians so much is that their fans tend to gravitate toward a similar vibe. Upon strolling into the compact yet comforting space of The Hollywood Theatre, everyone around was giddy and friendly, all bringing an excited yet warm energy. Everyone was...

Death From Above 1979 at Commodore Ballroom

"From the get-go, I was stunned by what I saw. The radio doesn’t tell you who is doing what, so when I saw the lead bass (which I always just assumed was an electric guitar) led by a vocalist behind a drum set, I couldn’t contain myself. There’s a feeling when you listen to Death From Above that whenever anyone told them to go right, they chose left in defiance."

Filing into the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on October 24, I had no expectation of what was about to happen. I had been a casual fan of Death From Above 1979, sporadically listening to albums after falling in love with their radio hits, and their live show had become a bucket list entry of mine....

Arkells are a cohesive unit, and it is this unity of purpose that makes their music so relatable. They played hit after hit throughout the night, and never did one person seem to come out over top of another.

In fact, Arkells go out of their way to make sure their show is a community event. This involves giving each person a chance to shine, guest appearances, but also acknowledging the local artists that have supported them throughout the years.

“I’ve seen Arkells more times than I can count” is a sentence I am almost able to say without hyperbole. I’m starting to lose track of how many performances I’ve seen, and yet every single time I see them I’m reminded why they’re easily my most viewed band. If you are unaware of Arkell...

CHVRCHES’ performances provide a bright, hopeful, and complete adventure that should be experienced at least once. I am sure that even people who came to the show without being too familiar with the band, became fans overnight.

A few friends who know about my affection for dreamy and synthy atmospheric tunes have recommended CHVRCHES to me for quite some time. However, it was Robert Smith of The Cure who got me into their music. Smith both co-wrote and provided vocals for the album version of the song ‘How Not To Drown.....

" Five Alarm Funk songs span a large variety of “issues” such as Sweat, Freight Trains, and even one about “a f**king hot dog.” It's clear from their attitude that they're here for a good time.

Even their most critical and satire-laden song was of “the worst person on earth, the one, the only, the critic.” After I cried for a few moments, knowing that I represented this reprehensible villain, I was able to put down my own vivid emotions and enjoy the snark and joy of this band."

To simply call a night with Five Alarm Funk a concert feels akin to calling the Mona Lisa a bunch of paint. When you attend an FAF show you are endeavoring on a wholly otherworldly experience. You will laugh, you will smile, and most importantly, you will dance. From the moment the band took the [.....

transported us into a romanticized end-of-summer sandy beach day to help us cope with the chaos that can be our modern world. We all found ourselves longing for warm summer nights to last a little bit longer as the night faded into the cool darkness. The crowd belted out her 2021 hit “Solar Power” as if to say, we’ll pull on this moment in the cold depths of winter to remember our tanned, day-drunk selves.

There are some bands that you can feel their influence on their fans, just in being around them. The Shins are such a band. There is a sort of reverence that permeates the venue when they play, especially for an album that has now crossed the decade threshold. The instant they started album opener C...

It’s not often that you start a legendary punk show with the time warp, but then again, NOFX has never been a band that sticks with what everyone else is doing. If you can get a crowd of punks to do a “jump to the left, and then a step to the right,” before you […]
