I am a big big fan of old hindi music. Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Manna De, Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Hemant Kumar....these are the names that are sacred to me. But somehow, i find a special connection with Mohd Rafi sahab. Apart from the fact that my birthday happens to be the day of his sad & untimely demise, I started fascinating about old hindi songs at a very tender age of 8 years when i heard the melodious voice of Rafi sahab in the songs of Naya Daur. I started humming the song, "Udein jab jab zulfein teri" and since then I have been showered by the blessings to keep humming and singing the most beautiful songs Hindi cinema has ever produced. With Melbourne Strings, here is a soft, rhythmic & hummable melody of 2 songs originally sung by the legendary Rafi sahab and filmed on Shammi Kapoor ji. His birthday is in 2 days as it happens on 24th December. This is a small tribute from Melbourne Strings to Rafi sahab. Accompanying me is Hitesh Sadhwani with his absolutely impeccable strumming on the guitar.
