This month, our Operations Manager, Matt () rekindles his love for a Bandcamp find from 2016, h hunt’s Piano album ‘playing piano for dad’ released by .website

Matt on his pick: “I’m pretty obsessed with recordings that focus on or emphasize the spaces they’re recorded in, and playing piano for dad by H Hunt is a great example of that. It was done in 1 take in a small studio in Paris, and that background info doesn’t even need to be known for it to be felt. The record is so intimate and has the feeling of existing in a moment, yet ringing out beyond it.”

Aaron on ‘Astral Cinema’: “Astral Cinema is a Copenhagen band I came across by chance when Spotify clicked over into my algorithm one day and my ears immediately perked up. They’ve got a special je ne sais quoi to them, fusing electronic, jazz, soundtrack, ambient and library music sounds into something that sounds cohesive and is rewarding to when deep listening. It’s no wonder that members of the band have collaborated with a diverse array of artists ranging from Lee Konitz to Adele to Jason Mark to Trentemøller. This record fits really nicely in between the sounds of Portico Quartet, BadBadNotGood, Misha Paniflov and Sven Wunder. Highly recommended.”
