Susan Meiselas is a documentary photographer based in New York. Meiselas is well known for her documentation of human rights issues in Latin America. She has been President of the Magnum Foundation since 2007, with a mission to expand diversity and creativity in documentary photography.

Less than one month until Gregory Halpern’s () workshop with us in Mexico!

Gregory Halpern has published seven books of photographs, including Omaha Sketchbook (MACK Books, 2019), Let the Sun Beheaded Be (Aperture, 2020) and ZZYZX (MACK Books, 2016), which won the Paris Photo/Aperture PhotoBook of the Year prize. Halpern is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Member of Magnum Photos. His photographs are held in the collections of several major museums, including the Museum of Modern Art. He holds a BA in History and Literature from Harvard University and an MFA from California College of the Arts. He is a professor of photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

It’s a bit of a blur about how long ago it was when we put out Curran Hatleberg’s stunning sophomore monograph, 𝙍𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧’𝙨 𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢.
Immediately we realized we needed a second edition and now we realize we should have done a third.
Not exactly sure what canonizes a certain book as a masterpiece but this is knocking at the door.

In the service of allowing beauty to rest we have decided to let this one sell out with no plans for a reprint soon.

If you didn’t pick up a copy before, the window is closing fast as quantity is nearing the end.

And with most things in life, when one thing ends another begins. 𝙇𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙨𝙩 reprint anyone?

How on earth has it already been three months since our inaugural workshop?!

During three different workshops over six weeks we met amazing people, ate insane meals, had intense and stimulating conversations and the loudest laughs. We ate crickets! We walked up hills, down hills, the power went out and in the end we came away with a new perspective on art making. It was a reminder to us all why we keep doing this.

We’ve just started organizing our programming for next year’s workshops. Stay connected to learn about what we have coming up.

She employs materials outside the confines of herself and her camera as both assistants and partitions — cinder blocks, hefty rocks, white foam core board, plywood plinths — and often present in her images are Weston’s own portraits of fragmented women, lingering on the periphery as visual references. His legacy as a canonical photographer is relegated to instructional prop; Krajnak clicks the shutter."

Congratulations to Tarrah Krajnak and Paul Mpagi Sepuya for their inclusion in the new V&A Photography Centre's opening exhibition whose public unveiling takes place this week. When it opens on Thursday, May 25th, the Centre will be the largest space housing a permanent photography collection in the UK.

Tarrah will speak at the museum on Tuesday, May 23rd.

Paul’s work is also included in KINSHIP, a new photography exhibition curated by Erin O’Toole at SFMOMA

Time to get out and see some photographs!

NOW SHIPPING: KEN LIGHT | MIDNIGHT LA FRONTERA Between 1983 and 1987 along the California–Mexico border, Ken Light took his Hasselblad camera and flash and rode along with U.S. Border Patrol agents in the middle of the night as they combed the Otay Mesa looking for "illegal aliens." He was there when they were apprehended – captured by authorities as well as the photographer's flash. The black and white images are stark, impromptu mug shots in the desert, taken at a moment of extreme vulnerability, when hope gave way to despair, migrants caught in a cruel game of hide and seek. . In piercing words and in strobe lit images caught against the dark of night, Midnight La Frontera’s immediacy underscores the struggle and defiance of those who make the perilous hike for days and weeks in search of the American Dream. . 10% of proceeds from this campaign will be donated to Al Otro Lado, a bi-national, direct legal services organization serving indigent deportees, migrants, and refugees, that is deeply engaged in efforts to protect the familial rights of migrants.
