SUMMER TACTICS SPECIAL ISSUE

As the summer holiday season is upon us, and thoughts of voting for a new prime minister and losing to Spain in the final are distant memories its time to sit back and relax with your two FREE August carp mags. And let me tell you, you will not me disappointed. I thought a mixture of summer tactics and big, black scaly leviathans would fit the bill so that as they say is what's written on the tin.
With summer tactics, tricks, edges and techniques in mind we have a team of experts this month Luke Stevenson, Oscar Thornton and Tom Stokes certainly know their stuff and don't mind sharing their knowledge with you guys.
That just leaves the big, black scaly leviathans. Where do I start? Ashley Allen has been very successful just lately and a massive common known as Tango is top of his list. Speaking of huge commons John Morgan has been catching more than his share at Farriers and Scott Sweetman ended his campaign in style landing the fish of his dreams, Bull Nose at an impressive 52lb. Add another 10lbs to that impressive figure and that's what Birchy had landed, a mahoosive mirror by any standards.
It appears that this spring is much like any other, in that everyone one has been Haulin'!! Billy Wells at Elphick's, Callum Reid at Swan, Byron brown at Furzebray, Lee baker on his syndicate and Perry Alabaster at Monks. Even Jonny Old has been trouncing them in his short sessions, it's been a Big carp bonanza all over the country. Which leads us into our final article, not in the UK but in France. Rob Gannaway to be precise. More stunning carp for this accomplished professional.

Welcome to Issue 336 of Big Carp and you may see that things look a little different. Yes, after almost 40 years of BC we thought it was time for a change. We recently took on a new head designer at our studio and James decided it was time I came out of the dark ages. James is no stranger to carp magazine design as he used to run the studio at Advanced Carp and he has totally revamped both Big Carp and Free Line. So we have new cover designs, new layouts, new features all based around making our magazines easier to read. Obviously, when you are fishing you would read the mags on your phone or tablet, most people don't take a lap top. So this month things will be easier. I would love to hear your views? message me on Face Book or email [email protected] , use this email address too if you want to join our FREE subscription list, just put FREE SUBBY in the title. Our list stands at an impressive 42,250 at present but I'm pretty sure that will climb over the next few weeks. One more thing before I give you a quick run-down of what to expert in this months issue, you may have also noticed BC is BIGGER! also 40% bigger, and still absolutely FREE!! now that can't be bad.
So, this issue, where do I start? The cover story from Dean Walsh, looks at carp fishing and mental health, massively important and the first of several articles on this subject over the coming months. Next I have to draw attention to our all new catch report section, almost 40 pages of it, with all the biggest and best captures over the past few weeks. Regulars Barry Oconnor , Mark and Emma Rose and Mark Quinn are all back with the next exciting episode of their angling, some gorgeous fish from this trio.
Dean Bray has been hunting Sutton forties whilst Tim Thornton has been smashing it up on his local waters. Some great short stories from Paul Hesseltine, John Claridge, Tristan Cooper, Wells and Mahony, Mc Spadden and Payne, Les Bowers and Steve Haylett make this an ALL NEW BIG CARP to remember.

late Spring Lunkers

More rain! heavens above as I sit and write Junes editorial in the last week of May its tipping it down again outside my office. I heard on the weather forecast this morning that certain areas of the UK have had a months worth of rain in one day just recently! unbelievable, in fact it feels like its been raining since about October last year. I certainly cannot remember many days when we did not get any rain at all. Lets hope we get some fine weather this summer. Not that the fish seemed bothered about it, quite the opposite in fact as this months catch reports will show. Some incredible catches again this month.
We have a bumper issue this month as you probably saw on the cover, another 25% of the UK's favorite carp mag, and all free too!! can't be bad. I have a fantastic issue for you this month, some recent monsters, some 'off the beaten track', some classic catches, a huge haul from Brocard and even the first of two articles on carp matches.
So lets kick off with this months cover star Roger Bacon, Roger has been contributing to Big Carp since the start. His early articles are absolute gold dust on eclipsed by his recent hauls of Big Carp from Grenville and the Colne Valley. The numbers of massive carp defy believe, multiple forties, fifties and even a sixty. I know Grenville is an outstanding venue but you have still got to catch them, not everyone is catching to this extent, Roger has certainly re-wrote the record books just recently.
Also amongst the fish recently, consistent catcher Rick Golder, another Big Carp regular who sets his targets and relentlessly pursues them to the end. I promised you some 'Off the Beaten track' and Craig Jon McEvoy, an unusual venue and some monsters that time forgot, what more could you want? Well, what about a ton of carp from Brocard? Richard Logan and company did just that and in February. Bobby Don and Adam Reed bring us some classic captures while Big Carp favorite Barry Oconnor entertains us with the first of two articles about the Cottington carp matches, what a venue this is. Stunning carp.
Add to these some carpy humour, the latest news and reviews and I think you would agree that for FREE its another fantastic Issue of Big Carp.
