Greetings Lay Waste supporters!

Heather here, more on that in a moment.

You are probably wondering, “Why is this weirdo talking to us?” We are the team behind Joking Hazard who you might know from our self-titled game Joking Hazard, or our other games Master Dater, Trial by Trolley, or our most recent game Sosig!

In October 2023, Lay Waste Games approached us with an offer to acquire them. In our discussions, the Lay Waste team made it clear that their top priority during the transition was to take care of their current Kickstarter backers. After a number of discussions, we said, “Yes!” We've been working diligently since then.

After a years-long wait, we did it! Everyone should now have their games in hand. I am immensely proud of our team's work overcoming various hurdles to get these games into the hands of their extremely patient fans. If you do not have them yet, then something has gone wrong with your shipment. Please contact us at [email protected], and we will research the issue for you.

Now that we have wrapped this project (pending anyone with shipping issues), we are ready to look ahead at what’s next for Lay Waste Games. Firstly, Lay Waste Games will be operated under our new company, Scrungo Games. We plan to keep the Lay Waste brand alive and separate under Scrungo Games to keep making the high-end games in the style you love while also adding retail-friendly editions.

Here are some answers to some questions you might have.

Why did you wait so long to update Facebook!?!

We’ve been trying to get into Facebook for the last 10 months. The AI at Facebook in all their infinite wisdom finally decided to let us in yesterday. We've been sending our updates via Kickstarter while we waited.

Who or What is Scrungo Games?

Scrungo Games is made up of the team behind Joking Hazard. This company will operate as our all-ages brand. It is dedicated to making fun games at affordable prices. As well as Lay Waste, Scrungo will also be home to other brands and IPs who want to give their fans fun and affordable games. More on this is the near future…

Who runs Scrungo Games?

It’s me, Heather DenBleyker, the same person who has been running Joking Hazard LLC for nearly eight years now. I’ve been a big fan of Lay Waste Games ever since I first played Dragoon at a game cafe in 2017. When our friends at Lay Waste approached us with an offer to take the company reigns and help fulfill their Kickstarter, I was honored to take on the challenge.

What are we planning next?

-Expanding the distribution of existing games, making them available in Hobby, Retail, and online shops like Amazon. If you are interested in becoming a seller or know a store that would like to carry our games, you can email [email protected], and we will direct you to our distribution team.
-Making a reprint of Dragoon Gold.
-Relaunching the Lay Waste games website. Please pardon our mess.
-Planning an affordable version of Dragoon for mass retail that keeps the style of the original at a more affordable price point.
-Developing more games! Dragoon Iceage is still in the works and we also have some other great games that we can’t talk about just yet.

How do I as a fan, figure into this?

-We want to know what you want! You may see us ask a question here from time to time requesting your opinion of a new game, piece design, or product color.
-Please let us know of anything that needs attention. During the transition, we spent a lot of time going through physical inventory, and now it’s time to start organizing the digital archives. Please allow us some time as we figure this out.

Calling all Dragons, Humans and Penguins!

Today, April Fool's Day, is a special day to us at Lay Waste Games. Our very first campaign for Dragoon back in 2015 (which led us to creating Lay Waste Games in the first place!) crossed over April first. Based on backer feedback that the original dragon design looked like a penguin, we put out an update on April Fool's that we were changing the whole direction of the game to be penguin themed, including a name change to Penguioon.

Well over the last 2 years while we slogged through Pandemic manufacturing to get 2 campaigns fulfilled to backers, we actually made Penguioon for real! We are very excited to announce, 8 years since the very first joke about it, that this very real game will be coming to Kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/laywastegames/dragoon-ice-age

We're calling it Dragoon: Ice Age because Penguioon is an absolutely insane name, but we fully intend to have a sticker pack as part of the campaign so you can customize your box and brag that you actually do own Penguioon.

Set 10,000 years before Dragoon during the last ice age, you become the leader of 1 of 4 unique penguin tribes, build the island of Dragoon tile by tile from out of the icy sea, and build the world rich in resources like Fish, Dragon Loyalty, and Penguin Power to lead your tribe to glory. Complete epic penguin quests, find your lost crown jewels, and conquer the island from your stoic Ice Castle.

Each tribe comes with Hunter Penguins, Warrior Penguins, and Baby Dragons, all with unique skills and abilities to navigate the terrain and generate you tasty resources. Share control over the dreaded Ice Dragon with your Dragon Loyalty to make sure no other penguin dare cross you.

Speaking of that Ice Dragon, components of Dragoon: Ice Age are used to create the newest expansion character to Dragoon! So this is like 2 games in 1!

We know we're announcing this on April Fool's Day, but rest assured: this is an extremely real announcement.
