Bato Church, Bato River, and Bato Bridge

In the late 16th century, during the Spanish colonization, Catholicism was introduced in the Philippines, leading to the establishment of parishes and the construction of churches.

One such church is the St. John the Baptist Church, commonly known as the "Bato Church," located in the town of Bato in the Province of Catanduanes. It is situated in the town center, next to the highway and alongside the expansive Bato River.

The church was built with mortar and coral limestones to endure the island's frequent and severe storms. It remains a treasured heritage for the people of Catanduanes today.

Presently, the St. John the Baptist Church of Bato is the oldest church in the province, having withstood numerous violent typhoons, earthquakes, and other natural disasters over the years.

Binurong Point is a scenic destination located in Baras, Catanduanes, Philippines. Known for its breathtaking landscapes, it has become a popular spot for tourists seeking natural beauty and tranquility. Locals refer to the place as "Binurong" because they often bring their catch there to "buro" (preserve the fish by salting or soaking it in vinegar). Additionally, "Binurong" is a Bicol word that means "Healed".

LEAVE CRESTA DE GALLO ALONE!

I just read an article that the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) is gearing up to construct a solar-powered multi-purpose building on the picturesque Cresta de Gallo Island in San Fernando, Romblon.

According to the article the goal is to increase the number of tourists visiting, thereby expanding livelihood opportunities for the residents of the town of San Fernando. It is expected to create new jobs such as tour guides, boatmen, and other related roles in the tourism industry.

While the intention of increasing tourism is the goal, putting a "Multi-Purpose" building just makes it an eyesore. When people start putting infrastructure around an area more buildings will eventually increase over time.

People go to Creta de Gallo for its natural beauty. Personally, it would be better to improve the transportation system because I personally experienced the travel going there. Imagine having our ferry cancelled on the day with no notification and we have to adjust to make our way heading to Sibuyan by going via Odiongan in Tablas. So if you want to increase tourists in the island, make the travel more convenient for them. Improve the transportation system and more importantly make it sustainable by practicing responsible tourism.

Having a Multipurpose Building in Cresta de Gallo is a NO for me.

For 2 days, we explored the largest major island of the province of Romblon. Tablas Island is an off-the-beaten-path destination that has so much to offer. We explored the North and Southern parts but I know there are so many places we missed out and 2 days is just not enough. We will go back next summer to check out the other places.

How to get to Tablas Island, Romblon:
We traveled via 2GO Travel from Batangas Port to Odiongan which leaves every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday every 9 PM.

Places to Visit in Romblon, Romblon

Romblon Island is one of the three major islands of the Province of Romblon. It is often referred to as the "Marble Capital of the Philippines" due to its abundance of marble materials used to create different kinds of marble products. This charming island is also rich in history as it still preserves several Spanish colonial architecture that you will notice once you walk down the streets. Romblon also boasts stunning natural landscapes, including beautiful beaches, clear waters, and lush mountainous areas.

Cresta De Gallo

Famous for its powdery white sand, crystal-clear waters, and lush greenery. It features two islands connected via sandbar in the middle. It also has sandbars at the front and back part of this island.

How to get there? We're coming from Manila so the nearest is in Batangas Port.

Option 1: Easiest
Take a boat from Batangas Port heading via Sibuyan. You should arrive at Magdiwang Port. From there you can take a van transfer heading to the starting point of Cresta de Gallo to sign up and rent a boat heading there.

Option 2: Longer and its our detour due to cancellation of Boat.
If you're taking a boat via Odiongan, you can take a boat via 2GO Travel. This will be longer which we took since our boat via Sibuyan got cancelled. Note: its kinda common for boats to get cancelled heading to Romblon so just prepare just in case it may happen to you cause it happened to us.

From Odiongan port, take a van transfer just outside the port heading to San Augustin Port. Take a boat heading to Sibuyan - Magdiwang Port. From there you can take a van transfer heading to the starting point of Cresta de Gallo to sign up and rent a boat heading there.

Namsam Tower

It was the first multipurpose and 2nd tallest tower in South Korea. It is known as a national landmark and for its cityscape views. At the base of the tower, guest can also attach "love locks" at the various railings of the area. This symbolizes their love to be unbreakable and everlasting.

It is South Korea's largest theme park. It remains one of its most popular entertainment options in Korea today.

Everland is divided into five zones: Global Fair, Zoo-Topia, European Adventure, Magic Land and American Adventure. Each zones are perfect for all ages and guest will definitely enjoy each and every one of them.
