Evans & Eve: Culture Catalogue The personal photography of Austin Evans Eighmey. An attempt to express emotion to others in my lif My small legs could only take me so far. I’ve grown.

An obsession with documentation developed within me early in life. I would wade through artificially-mysterious cornfields into far-off woods. My mind transformed flat Midwestern plains into a realm of personal fantasy. Laden with a slew of recording devices including journals, pencils, disposable cameras, I would seek out long lost Michigan civilizations, their artifacts, and forgotten ancient st

ones of great power. It’s no surprise that I went on to pursue studies in archaeology. Lost lands have faded into the rich, visceral cities of Earth. Artifacts are no longer shoved into my tiny satchel, but instead frozen with the lens of a camera. The rocks have been replaced by people and their faces. I find they’re just as magical and talk back, which seems to be a lot healthier. After finishing my degree I worked in a small rural bar. I fell in love with the people there, but felt lost. Unable to pinpoint what exactly I was looking for, I moved to seek work in the District of Columbia. As an intensely visual thinker a camera was my best available outlet, but I felt the need to sharpen my tools. After finishing a bone marrow donation I had the means to invest in a 24-70mm lens. Her name is Eve, as she was born of my bones, and she is my partner in crime

I have a to-do list:

Share moments not often shared. Catalogue human culture in a holistic fashion. Release monthly articles on places of personal interest. Document human interaction and crystallize emotion for years to come. Use methodology inspired by anthropology to carry out the goals listed above. Here, I will be announcing my targeted destinations and simultaneously posting the dates that I’ll be documenting for each. I am infatuated with the idea of collaborations. My goal is to document culture on both a micro and macro level, then to display my findings in an enjoyable manner. If you feel that you have knowledge of something that I should see while I’m in your area, please contact me at: [email protected]

This is something I’d like to get good at. Signed

Evans
