My princess turned four, and she wanted a unicorn for her birthday party. So we found a real, live unicorn. His name is Jo. In fact, we found two!

I can’t recommend enough. They brought two real mini unicorns for the party and brought a little present for the birthday girl. I highly recommend them if you have a little prince or princess in Lincolnshire who wants a magical birthday! (Not an ad.)

Jo is a therapy unicorn for retirement homes. His cause is brilliant and he’s just won an award for it.

When you try to tear somebody down because you have made assumptions about them and find them wanting, that is a you problem.

The great and knowledgeable troll tribes of the internet often find my posts and make sweeping and completely inaccurate assumptions about me and my life and my abilities.

They say things like:

Can you put your own shoes on? (Yes, but why is that a measurement of worth?)
Can you see your feet? (Yes, but again, why is that a measurement of worth?)
Can you even walk? (Yes, for several miles before I get tired, but why is that a measurement of worth?)
Can you run? (Not very far, but why is that a measurement of worth?)

I mean Steven Hawking could do none of those things. Babies can do none of these things. Many many people can’t do some or all of these things. And it is in absolutely no way a reflection of their worth.

And while I am not Steven Hawking (as much as I’d wish for his mind), I’m still a person who is worth basic human respect, like anyone else.

Just like anybody who may have a body that isn’t up to societal standards. A body that may not function well, that may be broken, that may hurt. Life would be utterly boring if we were all the same anyway.

If you don’t find fat bodies attractive, that’s ok. Truly. But what’s not ok is to withhold respect, or downright attack a person simply for existing.

And though my body is most definitely not society’s ideal, I will continue to show up in my fluffy dresses for all the other people like me who just want to live our lives.
