RADICAL KITTEN “Uppercat” LP
Out Jan 26th 2024.

Their debut album “Silence is Violence” from 2020 caught me right from the first second, so I am very excited to be part of the release of their follow-up record “Uppercat”.

I think the band fits perfectly to my idea and the politics behind the label and I was even more happy to finally meet the sympathetic trio last year at fluff fest where they also played a very impressive and energetic concert.

“Uppercat” will be officially released on January 26th 2024. It will come in a beautiful screenprinted artwork by .delcaos from Marseille.

𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗧 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗖𝗛 - 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝗟𝗣

Midwest Emo and Midwest Hardcore/Punk was a big thing in the US from the 80s to the 00s. The biggest mistake to make is to think of this music genres when listening to Closet Witch. The band from Iowa offers raging Grindcore-Punk of highest quality. Founded in 2014, the quartet released a demo, some splits and EPs and one critically acclaimed album so far. Their new album "Chiaroscuro" speaks for itself and can whet the appetites of Grind and Powerviolence lovin’ lunatics everywhere. Chaotic, aggressive, cathartic and everything else than easy-listening. Singer Mollie Piatetsky regularly cuts to the bone, yet she refrains from getting bogged down in a spite-fest. Her delivery is unchained, howling with a tirelessness and purpose that’s equal parts intimidating energy and rhythmically earworming. Her style helps dictate much of the record’s flow and gives a little boost in each track. As guest appearances, Dylan Walker (Full Of Hell), Dan Lee (Wanderer) and others feature some of the twelve songs. The interplay between the musicians is stunning. Tight, but not to complicated. When other Mathcore bands lose themself in to many details, Closet Witch stay personal, charismatic and authentic without losing any intensity.

These are some of the colours available of the fantastic new LIFE SCARS LP.

There is a certain melancholy in the music of LIFE SCARS that speaks of tenderness and confidence. The beauty of the rebellion and the clarity of the critique are empowering in the face of a dying world. Originally founded in 2008 and based in the most eastern part of Poland, Life Scars became one of the most active and consistent bands in the polish DIY Punkscene.

“Pęknięte Serca” (broken hearts) is their fourth record and by far their most remarkable and impressive one. Six years after their previous output, they developed their sound further, adding a second guitar, more crust riffs appearing now in their simple punk sound. It is a political album that confronts the misery of the world without losing one’s tenderness. Captivating, melodic, danceable – but always with the fist in the air.

As some of you might know I have a weak spot for melodic polish punk and I love this band since I first saw and met them 13 years ago – so i am incredible excited to help to release Life Scars upcoming LP called “Pęknięte Serca”.

Recorded and mixed by Marcin Klimczak, Mustache Ministry Studio in Warsaw and mastered by Brad Boatright, AUDIOSIEGE.

The record is pressed on recycled 12” vinyl in different colour variants and housed in a beautiful gatefold cover designed by Dan Nguyen.
