MALAISE

MALAISE A quarterly literary compilation of the islander youth voice. Jean-Paul Sartre and hipsters both taught us that freedom is an illusion.

ISSUE 1 - ennui, transition, & the constant illusion

to be listless, brimming with futuristic yearnings
to be perpetually terrorised by hopes and dreams irredeemable
we live in a void that is ennui
and for that, your right is to be with fury. We've lived years under constant scrutiny, if not by others then our far-flung aspirations. To transit into new phases knowing that you had or hadn't achie

ved your goals, then - what does that feel like to you? Contain it in limited words and let it simmer with all who feel similarly.

Dear friends,

You seem to be a chronically procrastinating bunch! We've received some entries past the deadline and thought, how could we ever deny anyone a chance because of the exasperatingly basal concerns that are space and time, right?!

Therefore: deadline extended to Sept 10! Get those knuckles cracking, stat!

¡PROMPT ALERT! | MALAISE NOMOR DUA

a wrinkle in time
creases may be crimes
does that mean we’re past our prime?

saggy folds in skin. confronting your own mortality. an aged publication’s spine. cracks showing in your refined voice. creasing a smooth surface - destructively, or for greater good?

what stories can you weave about wrinkles? how do they figure in your existence and how do you feel about them? are wrinkles quantitative or qualitative? how do they fit your singapore narrative?

wax the answers to these lyrical, and shout them out.

submit: [email protected] by august 16 2014!
