The National Weather Service has CANCELLED the PDS TORNADO WATCH as the possibility of tornadoes has been greatly reduced. The WIND ADVISORY will stay in effect until 1 a.m. tonight so plan on continuing windy conditions.

6:30 p.m. UPDATE: The PDS TORNADO WATCH has been extended to RICE COUNTY and is in effect until 10 p.m. TONIGHT.

Thunderstorms moving in from the Mankato area have generally been decreasing in intensity, but the National Weather Service believes the line may restrengthen.

ALWAYS have multiple ways to receive warnings. Don't rely on outdoor warning sirens as you may not be able to hear them indoors!

Other counties included in this watch near us are: Blue Earth, Faribault, Freeborn, LeSueur, Steele, and Waseca counties.

For severe weather awareness week, the National Weather Service has issued a SIMULATED TORNADO WARNING effective at 1:45 p.m. for Rice County. The purpose of this second simulated warning is for you to practice your home shelter plan with your family.

A tornado warning means that a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. If this was an actual tornado warning, you should be seeking shelter immediately!

Please practice taking shelter in your designated shelter area we talked about earlier today.
