The Aces ♠️ & Rams 🐏 took home both of Pa Prep Live's Athlete of the Week awards on the heels of stellar play on the hardwood by Harriton's 🏀 Felicity McFillin ('McFillin' up the stat sheet! 🙄😬) ➕ the ice by Lower Merion's 🏒 Dylan Peterson!

McFillin has been posting some stellar statistics for the Rams' basketball team averaging 16 points, six rebounds and nearly one-and-a-half steals per game while Peterson leads LM in scoring and routinely gets the assignment of covering the opposing team's top player! When the Spring-Ford girls basketball team broke through the District 1 semifinal snag that caught the Rams the previous three seasons, Lucy Olsen’s first words were on the nose. “Fourth time’s a charm,” said the first team All-State senior guard. The Spring-Ford’s Class of 2021’s fourth...

ROYERSFORD >> Defense is one of the core values of the Spring-Ford’s girls basketball program — if not at the top of the list. With its offense slowed after a hot start and clutch free throw shooting absent during Monday’s PIAA Class 6A semifinal against District 11 champion Nazareth, Spring-F...

Terrance Laird bounced around ... from Twin Valley to Coatesville to Collegium Charter to Penn State to Louisiana State.

Now, he is at peace, and running faster than ever.

Possibly, straight into the Olympics.

Our Neil Geoghegan catches up with the 2017 Daily Local News All-Area Track Athlete of the Year.

Terrance Laird can move. And not only can he do it quickly, he tends to do it often. At the age of 22, the Chester County native has emerged as a world-class sprinter. Anybody flirting with a sub-20-second time in the 200-meter dash is undoubtedly a legitimate Olympic prospect, and Laird proved that...

“My brother was always there for me, looking out for me growing up,” Harry said. “And this has only made us even closer.”

Joe Paris, Jr., is a teacher at Stetson Middle School and the longtime boys’ golf coach at West Chester Rustin High School. He decided to donate a kidney to his younger brother last summer, and following five months of extensive tests – which revealed a surprising twist — it happened on January 26th.

“Maybe this can bring to light how important organ donation is,” said Joe, 55. “And believe me, if I can do it, anybody can do it. I really feel that way.”

THORNBURY >> When Harry Paris thinks about the blessings in his life, family is at the very top of the list. And it goes much deeper than his wife Janet and son Jacob. Harry’s suffered from kidney disease since his teen years. He’s 52 now. In the late 1990s his father volunteered to donate a [.....

“(Honoring Louie is) a big motivator for me,” McGill said. “His mom gave me the shoes he bought in the summer and that’s what I’ve been wearing for my matches, these gold shoes that were his,” McGill said. “That’s my biggest motivation this year, to win it not only for me, but for Louie and Louie’s family.”

McGill will sport the gold – Carbajal’s Asics JB Elite IVs – while he goes for the gold over the next four weeks of the high school wrestling postseason.

Jack McGill wasn’t taking anything for granted. Last November the Spring-Ford senior was presented with a unique opportunity. Especially with his senior wrestling season anything but certain, it wasn’t one to pass up. The invitation was to compete on the undercard of the Fight 2 Win 157 Brazilia...

“It is going to be a hard transition for some, but I think over the next few years students are going to love it,” said Molly Evanko, Unionville’s student council president. “Any big change like this will take some getting used to, but the students are going to love having a mascot they can really support.”

It officially puts an end to the association between the school’s athletic teams and the “Indians,” which was adopted in 1954 as a reference to the Lenape Indians who once inhabited the area through mid-1750s.
