🦦 Sea otters play a crucial role in their ecosystem, particularly in kelp forest habitats. By preying on sea urchins, they help maintain the balance and health of kelp forests, which in turn support a diverse range of marine life.

🦦 Sea otters have dense fur, the thickest of any mammal, to keep them warm in cold ocean waters. Unlike other marine mammals, they do not have a layer of blubber.

🦦 Sea otters are one of the few non-human animals known to use tools. They often use rocks to break open hard-shelled prey like clams and sea urchins while floating on their backs.
