Alice was a blessing to all who knew and loved her and a blessing to the many students and musicians she touched during her lifetime. RIP.
It is with great sadness, but also with Resurrection Joy that I share the news that our friend, fellow teacher and musician, Alice Lindsey, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday October 18th 2024.
In her lifetime, she knew and worked with some of the greatest musicians of our time, including a run in with Meredith Wilson. It was always so much fun to listen to the stories that she would tell, with her dry wit and humor adding to each story. But she considered her students to be some of the finest musicians she ever had the privilege of teaching and working with. Alice had an amazing 78 year teaching career. It would be hard to say how many students Alice taught during that time but I imagine the number of students and the lives she reached must have been in the thousands. Her musical legacy will live on through each and every one of them.
Not only was Alice a phenomenal musician and teacher, she was a PROUD Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She would always say that together with her four daughters, they were a powerful force. She loved her family dearly. When she would speak about them, she would get a certain twinkle in her eyes. Alice also loved her animals. Her cat and her bird brought her so much joy. As she has said, they were a captive audience.
Alice will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her. Funeral arrangements are pending.
