Behavioral Health Services of Pickens County is looking for a part-time Community Engagement Coordinator.
Job description below:
Function:
Under direct supervision of the Director of Prevention Services or his or her designee, responsible for coordinating activities for the Recovery Community Organization Grant to promote and develop recovery-oriented programs to help improve the overall health and well-being of individuals struggling with substance-related problems in the Pickens County community.
Examples of Work Performed:
• Coordinate all associated activities under the Recovery Community Organization Grant
• Responsible for community outreach
• Coordinate community engagement activities
• Create and develop resources on recovery to be shared with community members
• Assist in the development and implementation of agency sustainability plan
• Collaborate with other BHSPC programs to implement job readiness training and activities for people in recovery
• Develop and host community events related to building healthy families and communities
• Information gathering and dissemination to the local community
• Coordinate with local businesses and community members
• Gather and develop resource materials for people in recovery
• Actively supports a trauma-informed and responsive work environment as demonstrated in the five core values of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment
• Serves on agency committees as needed
• Performs other related duties as required
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Extensive experience in public speaking
• Proficient computer skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to plan and organize activities
• Graphic design experience preferred
• Working knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to coordinate activities with other agencies and community groups.
• Ability to plan and organize programs and activities.
• Ability to identify, organize and direct community resources to assist with alcohol and drug abuse and other behavioral health preventive efforts
• Fundraising and event planning skills
Desirable Training and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in social or health sciences strongly preferred; a general liberal arts background may also be considered and one (1) year experience in prevention or clinical services is desired, preferably in the field of substance use or other behavioral health area. Master’s degree in related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

The annual National Federation of Press Women’s communications contest is open to writers, authors, copy editors, public affairs professionals, photographers, publishers or others in the communication field.
Entries must be published between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2019, and entries are open to all ages. First-place winning entries in the affiliate and at-large contests are eligible to advance to the national competition.

The State of the Arts in Spartanburg: Join us on Wednesday, October 10, at 12:30 p.m., at the Spartanburg Marriott for our monthly meeting! Our speaker will be Melissa Earley, Community Impact and Outreach Director with the Chapman Cultural Center. She will be discussing Mayfair Art Studios (that's the new art center in Arcadia), the brand new Artists in Residence (A.i.R.s), and Spartanburg’s downtown cultural district programming. She will also touch on their work in schools, as well as a general overview of the upcoming events on their campus (Little Theatre, Ballet, Art Museum etc.).

From Real Life to Movie Life: MWSC Hosts Award-Winning Journalist
Media Women of South Carolina welcomed its very own Pamela Graham Anderson as guest speaker for its June 13 meeting to discuss her experience acting in the movie “Dear Dictator,” where she played the role of a news anchor. Anderson shared what it was like “acting” in a role that she had spent a good portion of her career actually doing. She also gave MWSC members some behind-the-scenes details of movie making. The meeting was held at the Spartanburg Marriott downtown.
Pamela Graham Anderson is an Emmy award-winning journalist who has interviewed world leaders, including five United States presidents, Hollywood legends, Olympic medalists, New York Times bestselling authors and leading healthcare professionals.
