New long term project.

Wife of a Temporary Gentleman

This is a production to raise funds for the Jack Harrison VC MC Charitable Trust, registered charity number 1191212

Performances will be next May, just awaiting confirmation of dates and chosen venue this week

We will be holding auditions in the next few weeks with the following roles to be filled.

Rebecca. Friend and neighbour of Lilian (already cast) wife of Philip who is away in the trenches of WW1

John. Father of Jack Harrison

Charlotte. Mother of Jack Harrison

Jack Harrison. Central character, but rarely seen on stage because he is away in the trenches of WW1

Philip. Husband of Rebecca, serving alongside Jack Harrison in the trenches

Messenger boy. Only seen very briefly delivering the two telegrams to Lilian

This is obviously not a paid opportunity, but could be very helpful for anyone looking to get more involved in local live theatre or get seen by more people etc.

Email me at [email protected] to register your interest or message our page and let us know which part you would be interested in auditioning for and we will confirm all details in due course as soon as it is all confirmed

We require a technician for our Kampfende Liebe

Performances are on 26th to 28th July at Jubilee Central, with all required equipment including lights and projector already in place

Please contact us directly or email me at [email protected] if you can help.

Not particularly tech heavy, very much lights up and down, play the odd bit of music and a few sound effects here and there and projection of very few images onto the back of the stage.

Please share around.

Good luck to our friends at Dark Immersion Productions as they put their version of the greatest love story of all time on the stages of various local venues, starting later this month

𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨 & 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐭

This month, our adaptation of the eternal tale of the two star-crossed lovers opens at Park Street Theatre before heading to another four venues in the East Riding.

Using to the original Shakespearean dialogue, our story moves from Verona to Hull.

The year is 1954. The Capulets, wealthy from the exploits of the fishing industry. The Montagues, a hard working and successful Hessle Road fishing family.

Three days…

Romeo Montague, on shore leave, falls for the beautiful Juliet Capulet, who is betrothed to another. We follow the couple as they defiantly ignore the threats of their warring families.

Will marriage heal the rift between the families? Or will the pact lead to a more heartbreaking end?

Lena:
What happened?
Agnieska:
(Angry voice) That bloody Russian happened.
Lena:
What did he do?
Agnieska:
I don’t even want to talk about it.
Lena:
Well, at least we’re still alive.
Agnieska:
I sometimes wish I wasn’t.
Lena:
What makes you say that?
Agnieska:
There’s a horrible stench around here, the smell of the dead.
Release a distinctive smell now, smell of death or burning, a smell that lingers in the air and communicates death.
Lena:
I know, but what can we do about it?
Agnieska:
(Pulling Lena closer) We could try and escape.
Now Lena looks around, to see if anyone is within earshot, looking nervously particularly at Bruno, before turning back to Agnieska.
Lena:
Escape, are you out of your mind?
Agnieska:
Would it surprise you if I was, considering how we’re existing right now?
Lena:
No, but how would we do it? It’s got to be impossible.

Right, here we go (sorry it's a little bit late in the evening)

The auditions we had planned for this coming Friday 10am to 2pm and next Tuesday 6pm to 9pm at Jubilee Central have had to be pushed back for reasons beyond our control.

However, there is to be a new opportunity for those interested in auditioning for our Kampfende Liebe at the same venue on Tuesday 2nd April and Friday 5th April instead.

All you need to do is contact us on our page or email [email protected] to let us know which date/time suit you best and we will send out a synopsis and an example of what you need to prepare for your audition.

27/02/2024

Big News incoming regarding auditions.

It's very necessary and can promise a bit more time for your preparation.

Casting Call.

There are still auditions slots available for our Kampfende Liebe.

This amateur dramatic production is booked for Jubilee Central on the weekend of 26th to 28th July and is attracting interest because of the subject matter.

Auditions will be held at Jubilee Central 10am to 2pm on Friday 1st March and 6pm to 9pm on Tuesday 5th March.

Rehearsals every week at Jubilee Central to suit cast availability, directed by Ashlie Dunstan and produced by Nicola L Meekin, written by Ian Peter Judson MA

The production will also require extras, speaking and non-speaking, but this production is very hard hitting.

Message our page and we will send out a synopsis and an example of the work for preparation for the auditions, please also tell us which audition times and date suit you best.

23/02/2024

Who could be in the mood for a small sample of what you will be performing for auditions next week?

Auditions incoming, watch this space very soon 👀

16/01/2024

Producer required.

We are going to be holding auditions in the next few weeks for a new play that will be on at Jubilee Central in July.

Ian Peter Judson M.A is the writer and Ashlie Dunstan is the director of Kampfende Liebe, for auditions we need a producer who will sit on the auditions panel.

Anybody interested enough to help bring this very bold, hard-hitting production to the stage needs to be a strong character and able to handle some very harsh reality from history, this is not one for the faint hearted.

Please contact Ian Judson or Ashlie Dunstan directly to register your interest.

Any interested people will be given a full breakdown of the production, the story and our company at the earliest opportunity.

Wow! What a transformation, in just one showing. My first review of this Netflix original series was quite scathing, and I ended it by saying I would keep hoping that it would get better, but I wasn't going to be holding my breath. Episode one showed all that was wrong, with a far too modern attitude and language, which ruined what seemed like a series with some potential, save for the performance by Ruth Gemmell....

Harlots Ep 4

It's been a while since I posted a review, but that just gives me the excuse to go back to watching this very watchable drama. In this time of coronavirus and lockdown and a second spike, there is still, I'm very glad to report, some great drama to watch on television, on BBC One in this case. With Margaret Wells now firmly established in her new boarding house in Soho, the shenanigans between her and Lydia Quigley continue apace, but with another angle coming very much more to the forefront, as Margaret's daughter Charlotte struggles to deal with her keeper Sir George's temper tantrums and Jekyll and Hyde character. http://televisiondramareviewing.com/2020/10/05/harlots-ep-4/

This also then leads to certainly the best handled s*x scene of the lot, between Charlotte and Haxby, as the tension previously witnessed between them, finally boils over

Harlots ep 3

Following the change in edge of episode two, I was a bit unsure what to expect from episode three of this nookie fest which originally hit our screens in 2017, before being recently resurrected. It has to be said that Harlots has become the classic case of bad against worse, a strange sort of void in which you are genuinely unsure of which side you are on, just because you see the very worst from both protagonist and antagonist. Harlots ep 2

Episode two of Harlots is different in some ways to episode one, hardly surprising I know, but this episode gives this costume drama a whole different edge. Margaret Wells and Lydia Quigley are still very much at each other's throats in the world of the oldest profession, but two names from the respective women's pasts will soon rear their heads, one very welcome for Margaret, the other not so welcome for Lydia. Harlots ep 1

One of the many drawbacks caused by Coronavirus, has been the enforced inability to make new drama, because of social distancing etc. However, what that has in turn caused, is for the BBC Drama bods to turn to previous work, to keep us entertained, until they can lift the lid on making quality new drama. One such project that has returned to our screens, is the 2017 hit Harlots. [ 666 more words ]

S1 Ep3

Another tune-in on Netflix, another episode of series one watched, with heightened expectation, which this episode didn't disappoint. Suranne Jones continues to glide through this tale of domestic bliss, which hides a growing (literally) problem, with her husband being an expectant father, just with another woman. Now having a solicitor to advise her, Gemma sets about a very clever plan, to find out more about Simon's intentions, and how much of a financial gamble has he taken to fund his next property development venture, on the site of his old school. S1 Ep2

My Dr Foster viewing on Netflix continues, and this time I have to say I'm slightly more impressed with this story. Having found out that her husband Simon is cheating on her in the first episode, this time they put a bit more meat on the bones and definitely increased the temperature from simmering, to rather hot without going too far.
