LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – With modern gun season starting this Saturday, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) is urging deer hunters in eastern Arkansas to remain cautious as recent heavy rains have pushed water levels in the White River Basin to near flood stages.

The White River is forecasted to reach 31 feet at Augusta by Friday, Nov. 8, which could close deer hunting on private land in Flood Prone Zone B.

CONWAY, Ark. – Starting next Monday, the skies over Lake Conway will witness a large-scale restoration project as helicopters drop over 600,000 pounds of gravel onto various areas of the lakebed. This effort by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) aims to create prime spawning habitats as part of the ongoing Lake Conway restoration project, which began with the lake’s draining in September 2023.
