Here’s Henry and Lucy from Howard Park Wines in Cowaramup, Western Australia. Owned and operated by the Burch family, Howard Park was established in 1986 and specialises in the premier regions of Margaret River and the Great Southern. Nat Burch’s westies, Henry and Lucy, love roaming around the grounds of the beautiful estate. Puppy Lucy tries to keep up with big brother Henry, much to his chagrin – “Hey, don’t you realise who the top dog around here is?!”

Meet Barney from Wirra Wirra Vineyards in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Wirra Wirra was built in 1894 by an eccentric former state cricketer, who absconded to McLaren Vale after embarrassing his family one too many times. It was re-built in the late 1960s by Greg Trott – a visionary who dreamt of returning Wirra Wirra to its former glory. Wirra Wirra’s Wine Dog Barney is the canine embodiment of Greg Trott’s philosophy. When this bon vivant Bluey isn’t entertaining visitors at the cellar door, you’ll find him rounding up vineyard machinery, hanging at the beach or meet and greeting with picnickers.

Here's Louis from Clyde Park Vineyard & Bistro in Bannockburn, Victoria. The Clyde Park tasting room has sweeping views of the Moorabool Valley and stunning food and wines to taste which has earned them a James Halliday 5-star rating. Resident French bulldog Louis is a certified 5-star wine dog – a title he takes very seriously, judging by the look on his face...

Here’s Solly from Cullen Wines in Wilyabrup, Western Australia. Cullen wines is headed up by Vanya Cullen, who was named ‘Viticulturist of the Year’ at the 2022 Halliday Wine Companion Awards. Vanya’s approach is about connecting and working with nature to make the highest quality wines possible. The vineyards received an A-Grade Organic Certification in 2003 and then became certified A-Grade Biodynamic in 2004. Solly the wine dog is certified A-Grade adorable and his approach is about connecting with all creatures great & small.

Monte and Max from Barossa Chateau in Lyndoch, South Australia. Barossa Chateau sits in one of Australia’s most impressive rose gardens which boasts over 22 acres of beautiful blooms. Owners Mark and Mandy Creed have always been passionate about the Estate, their wines, and their dogs – many of whom have been featured in Wine Dogs. Here are current superstars Monte and Max posing with specially commissioned sculptures of Max and Merlot – two much-loved and much-missed family members. Where else but in a Chateau would you expect to find such Wine Dogs royalty?

Meet Copper and Jill from The Islander Estate Vineyards on Kangaroo Island, South Australia. The Islander Estate Vineyards brings together two worlds: the heritage of Bordeaux and one of Australia’s most remote wine regions – Kangaroo Island. Founder Jacques Lurton favours varieties rarely grown in his native Bordeaux, such as Cabernet Franc and Semillon which thrive on Kangaroo Island. The Flagship Range, ‘The Cygnet’, ‘The Investigator’ and ‘The Independence’ are named after the European ships that landed on the Island. Resident wine pooches Copper and Jill are a couple of sea dogs who have really embraced the Island life – come and say hello next time you drop anchor.

Say hello to Neo and Koby from Seppeltsfield Barossa in Seppeltsfield, South Australia. Located in the heart of the Barossa, Seppeltsfield was established in 1851 and is one of the oldest wineries in Australia. Upon arrival, a vibrant community of wine, food, art, beauty and adventure awaits, highlighted by Seppeltsfield’s world class Cellar Door and Centennial Cellar, and the amazing FINO Restaurant. Neo and Koby are the Seppeltsfield Wine Dogs and are GSPs – which can either stand for ‘German Short-haired Pointer’ or ‘General Spontaneous Pandemonium’ depending on how they are feeling that particular day. Woof!

Meet Jez from Oakridge in Coldstream, Victoria. Oakridge is in the Yarra Valley and is known for distinctive single-vineyard wines that reflect the unique terroir of that region. David Bicknell is Chief Winemaker and loves to spend time in the winery with his kelpie Jez – who loves rounding up the other wine dogs except for Tilly the Staffy (who he tries to lead away from home and so she gets lost.)

Here’s Bruno from Au Sommet Winery in Napa, CA. Au Sommet is a partnership between legendary winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett, John Schwartz and Jim Barbour. The name ‘Au Sommet’ means ‘at the top’ in French – a dual reference to the high standard of excellence the wines achieve, and the estate’s lofty elevation on top of Atlas Peak. Bruno is the wine dog in residence and has grown accustomed to high altitude life up among the rocks and vistas of the mountain. He feels so at home that his goat friends have accepted him into their herd. Talk about a top dog!

Say hello to Benson from Hagafen Cellars in Napa, CA. Hagafen was founded in 1979, and the first released vintage was harvested in 1980. Since then, Hagafen’s wines have been served on numerous occasions at the White House to visiting foreign dignitaries. In addition to making amazing wines, Hagafen has a commitment to Sustainability. Hagafen Cellars is dog-friendly and Benson often acts as the greeter with a sign he made himself. He is a very proud owner of an official ‘Licker License’ and ensures that compliance is maintained at all times.

Meet Shorty, Chipper and Lucy from MacRostie Winery in Healdsburg, CA. Steve MacRostie pioneered winemaking on the Sonoma Coast and today, winemaker Heidi Bridenhagen continues in this tradition, crafting some of the region’s finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The MacRostie Estate House offers magical tasting experiences led by knowledgeable, friendly Wine Ambassadors. Resident wine dogs Shorty, Chipper and Lucy will lead visitors through an immersive ‘MacRostie Wine Dogs Experience’. Highlights will include water bowl education, the best ways to get into someone’s lap without them noticing, and playing fetch in the barrel room (avoid getting shorty as the host for this one – he never brings the ball back).

Here’s Tucker and Bali from Shibumi Knoll Vineyards in St. Helena, CA. Shibumi is a Japanese word meaning ‘the pursuit of perfection through simplicity’. And by embodying these qualities, Shibumi Knoll’s ‘Buena Tierra’ Chardonnay has been judged as one of the best in the USA (the 2005 vintage received a 97 from the Wine Spectator, one of the highest scores given to a California Chardonnay in a decade.) The wine dogs of Shibumi Knoll also display excellence – although Tucker is officially a bonafide senior citizen, he does his best to keep up with nephew Bali, especially when it comes to getting to the food bowl first.

Meet Stella from Flambeaux Wine in Healdsburg, CA. Flambeaux Wine was founded by the Murray family, who originally hail from the mighty Mississippi River. Stella the Maremma was named after the famous Tennessee Williams character from ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ and is Flambeaux’s overseer and unofficial mascot. Steadfastly guarding the crop and her ‘flock’ (Nia and Lila Murray), Stella will release from her watch only when called with the famous Stanley Kowalski yell: “‘STELL-LLA!!!” Like all things Flambeaux, Stella adds a little New Orleans flavour to California wine country.

Here's Rockwell from Boyd Family Vineyards in Napa, CA. Stan and Joan Boyd established Boyd Family Vineyards in 1998 with the idea that special wines and memories could be created in their little corner of the Oak Knoll District in Napa Valley. Wine Dog Rockwell started his life as a guide dog in training but it was soon realised that he belonged running free, out amongst the vines. He still gets to hone his skills leading people from the car park to the tasting room. “Step right this way – may I recommend the ‘Ruby Tuesday’ Rosé?”
