Taylor Bryant, a software developer at Livestock Nutrition Center LLC, had an unexpected path to software development. He began his path working towards a computer science degree, but left college when he began having difficulties with his mental health. He didn't let that discourage him as he discovered his path to being a software engineer. Taylor is a testament to how we, as software developers, continue to solve problems piece by piece until we achieve our goals. Reach out to Taylor on LinkedIn or Twitter to learn even more about his journey!

User experience is becoming more and more important for developers and designers to gain an understanding of how their users are interacting with their application. Enter Coriano Harris, a User Experience Strategy Tech Lead at FedEx. Along with his expertise in design, his path includes Harvard's CS50: An Introduction to Computer Science and an in-depth, full-time stint in The Iron Yard coding bootcamp. We discussed some of the techniques and tools Coriano uses as a UX designer, how coding factors into his journey in technology, and how learning to accept failure led him to success. You can catch him at one of the Code Connector where he serves the community as part of the Leadership Team.

This week, I spoke with Danny Thompson, Software Engineer at Frontdoor. In the modern era of software development, it pays to continue reaching out and learning new things. Danny gave insight on how not giving up on his goals translated into him beginning his career in tech. ABL and ABB are Danny's mottos: Always be learning. Always be building. Building relationships has been an integral part of breaking into software development for Danny. As the founder of the Memphis chapter of Google Developer Groups, he has dedicated his free time to building the excellent community of developers in Memphis, TN. If you are looking for a place to begin your path, join him at a meetup and ask him about his journey!
