The first outside events since the start of the coronavirus pandemic hit has been announced. Benidorm will resume musical and leisure activities with the 'Benidorm Summer Nights' outdoor performances during the months of July and August, which will take place in the Julio Iglesias auditorium in Parque de l'Aigüera with a capacity between 400 - 800 people. HEADLINES: Travellers from the UK will not have to quarantine on arrival in Spain from Sunday. Spain's foreign minister has confirmed that British citizens will be allowed to enter the country freely, without the need to self isolate. The UK Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has hinted heavily that social distancing rules will be relaxed when they are reviewed next week - as new guidance is being drawn up for the hospitality industry.

Travellers from the UK will not have to quarantine on arrival in Spain from Sunday. Spain's foreign minister has confirmed that British citizens will be allowed to enter the country freely, without the need to self isolate. UK rules currently state that anyone returning to or entering the UK still has to self isolate for 14 days. It is thought that this will be reviewed on 29th June.

Face masks are mandatory on public transport and when 1.5m social distancing can not be observed here in Spain. They are also mandatory on public transport in England, but one UK company has taken the idea of self containment even further by developing a personal, mobile shield. It's called a Persona 360 or "Tube Tube" Would you wear one of these?

After a long and dangerous chase through the streets of the Rincon de Loix area, a National Police patrol attempted to stop the driver of a motorcycle that was on the run, the driver ran over the two officers.

One of officers has broken several bones in his arm and is awaiting an operation, the other officer sustained ankle and foot damage.

The driver, who was subsequently arrested, turned out to be a 15-year-old minor who had stolen the motorcycle from his father and was driving without a driving license.

Presidente Pedro Sanchez has unveiled today a €4.25bn (£3.8bn) plan to bolster the country's battered tourism industry. Tourism is a vital industry for the Spanish economy, accounting for over 12% of our economy.

"Spain is reopening itself to tourism," Sanchez said. "We are a world leader and each step we take will be safe."

He said the cash would be put towards several measures, including marketing and promotion, discounted taxes for airlines, and the creation of a "tourism intelligence observatory".

Marketing and promotion will amount to €38.1 million. Of this, €33.3 million will go to a plan for the period 2020-2024 to reactivate the main European and British markets.

Dame Vera Lynn has sadly died. “The family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers at the age of 103." The singer and actress, dubbed the Forces’ Sweetheart, rose to fame during World War Two. She is best known for hits such as We’ll Meet Again, her rendition of which was hugely popular during the war.

Presidente Pedro Sánchez announced today that on the 16th July a state ceremony will be held to honour the victims of the coronavirus and the public servants who have fought against the pandemic.

Although the full details of this ceremony are not known at the moment, he did say that the ceremony will be in the presence of His Majesty King Felipe VI and will be held in Madrid with many EU leaders attending.

Coinciding with the start of Phase 3 of the de-escalation plan, Benidorm City Council is opening all the children's play areas.

The children of Benidorm get back a space that has been closed for three months.

Cleaning and disinfection work will now be carried out daily.

Users of the municipal area of ​​parks and gardens are reminded of the mandatory use of masks for those over six and of the use of hand disinfection and the wearing gloves. Likewise, the use of litter bins is stressed to dispose of used masks and gloves, and it is advisable to always walk to the right to avoid direct contact, always keeping a safe distance of at least 1.5 meters.

Meet Sophie the kitten. She is around 4 weeks old and was found under a car. Unfortunately she is half blind in one of her eyes. Sophie is very playful and is desperate for a new home and a loving family.

In association with Manos y Patas the local animal charity, every week either a dog or a cat from the shelter is featured as the Cool Radio ‘Pet of the week’. The animals that are featured are in desperate need of either adoption or fostering.

If you wish to go to the beach in Benidorm you now have to book your space by logging onto a website for a chance to occupy one of the 5,122 four-by-four-meter spaces which are meant for a maximum of four people.

If you are not good with tech there is an office where people can get help to make a booking. You will have to access the Levante and Poniente beaches via one of 20 ramps, and you will have to be wearing footwear until they reach the sand.

Benidorm Mayor, Toni Pérez, has said this will reduce the capacity from 40,000 people to 26,606. The plots will be marked out with coloured strips and stakes.
