I believe in imagination, I believe kids are amazing story tellers, but sometimes they just need a little spark…and for that I would like to introduce you to Flint Books. The world is full of things that are creative on our behalf…for kids especially. Technology is awesome, but picking which color to auto fill a digital coloring book or flipping a digital page and having a s
tory read to you isn't imagination. Kids need to have as many chances as possible to let their imaginations run wild, in any direction they choose. The kids create the story
This isn’t just another choose your own adventure, or pick which way the character heads or what he picks up, you create the story. There are several pages in between each illustration, and they are blank..well they have lines to help fit your story in, but there is no story, it’s all up to you. Are the characters good or bad? are they searching for something or are they stealing it? is it an epic adventure or a bumbling comedy of goofballs…you decide…you create…you imagine. The illustrations are the guide
The illustrations in each book give hints or ideas of what could be happening in the story. They will give you markers along the way, but how the illustrations are interpreted can change the whole story...the illustrations are the flint, they are designed to be struck against an imagination, and from there the pages will get filled with millions of amazing stories. The best part of flint books is that the story is completely up to the one looking at it, how they interpret the illustrations, what they think is happening, and then how they want it to go. Aside from the illustrations, the book is completely their creation, so we designed it accordingly. There's a place to add their own title and name on the cover, as the author. There is space on the inside cover to add the ever-so-important "about the author" info, and of course we have a space for their own spectacular headshot, and what book would be complete without a special dedication…to mom or dad, maybe the dog, a friend, brother or sister, there is space to create their own dedication in each book. Right now, there are two books. This will end up being a full series, and likely offered through a subscription, but for now we are just getting started, just sparking the fire so to speak. The first two books are completely different, and each book after will be a whole new adventure. Every book will give you a chance to express a whole new side of your imagination. Each book will let you bring to life, new characters, new adventures and new stories.

So excited to have Flint Books featured in the July issue of Sacramento Parent Magazine, check it out and pick up a copy real soon! Also very excited that I was able to illustrate their cover for the issue.
Only a few days until we receive the July issue of Sacramento Parent with tons of local resources and ideas relating to education, enrichment, and summer fun! But, we also loved working with the local illustrator and creator of Flint Books, Kevin Meier who drew our cover this month. Can't wait for you all to see it!

You can get a Flint book!
I have had a few people tell me that they don't know how kickstarter works, but they want to get a book...well that's how it works. Kickstarter isn't just a crowdfunding platform, YOU GET A REWARD based on how much you support.
