Trauma is like a poison tipped arrow. We may dislodge the event from the front of our minds through coping mechanisms or even heal the surface wound on our hearts through forgiveness, given and recieved. But until you clear out the toxic lies that trauma pours into our systems by replacing it with the truth of God’s word - the effects of that trauma will live on & symptoms of it will show up in your thought processes, in your words, and in your actions.

To the perfectionist moms, the high strung mothers, the mamas who are stuck in comparison mode… The mother of Christ brought two pigeons to the Lord. A sign of poverty, yet a bigger sign of obedience. “Even this, I give you.” May we be as obedient because just like her, no matter how small or insignificant our offering may feel like, we carry the greatest offering with us and don’t need external validation of that fact. She may have had only two tiny birds to offer as a sacrifice that year, but she carried the greatest, purest sacrifice in her arms and we carry Him in our hearts.

NOTES ON JUDE:
We’re living in a culture that is actively perverting the gospel of grace by claiming that the Bible is something you can cut up like arts & crafts. Pick & choose what you believe about Jesus. Leave the feel good teachings. Take out the conviction of sins. Leave the parts that sound kind of like social justice. Take out the parts with the actual justice. You know, the justice God holds against us, the sinners who have rebelled against Him. Leave the part where Jesus is our friend & teacher. Take out the part where Jesus is our Lord & Master…. Almost every apostle called themselves the same thing, “duolos”. Bondservant - slave to Jesus Christ. The people that proclaim “live your best life” will tell you how much Jesus loves you til they’re blue in the face, but they forget to tell you that loving Jesus back isn’t singing some songs to him.. it’s to LIVE & DIE FOR CHRIST. It’s a life SOLD OUT for the gospel. When Jesus isn’t just your “homeboy” but the MASTER of your heart, mind, & body.

We can not passively allow for these teachers to lead the masses into submission to a false gospel : a gospel that doesn’t save. A gospel that says “come as you are AND stay as you are, Jesus doesn’t mind.” Yes, he does. He does mind. In fact, he minded so much he took it upon himself LITERALLY and died upon the cross for those sins so that you and I could be forgiven. He’s a powerful God so he didn’t stay dead and he doesn’t want you to stay dead in your sins either. He didn’t suffer all he did so that you could go on sinning. (Romans 6) Will we as Christian’s stumble and fall? Yes. As long as we’re in this flesh we will have to overcome temptation and bring ourselves under submission to Christ. (1 Corinthians 9:27) It is a spiritual battle we face. But there’s a VAST difference between wrestling with temptation & wallowing in sin. One is a BATTLE being fought with God on our side. Another is a pig rolling around in it’s own excrement.

If you find yourself in the huddled masses, being lulled to death by false teachers who promise you the American dream - wake up. This is your freedom call.

If you’re awake, time to stand up for others. Contend for the faith.

If I'm being honest, I haven't quite figured out this new rhythm to my life but will soon. I get it now why soldiers could go back home to peace and prosperity and yet find themselves completely unanchored and guiltily desiring to be back in battle. Or why retirees go back to work. Knocks you a little off kilter when you've been poured out non-stop for months on end without many breaks and now you have so much choices open up before you. But anywho, I WILL be getting it together here shortly lol Watch for new episodes soon.

Had the honor & blessing of leading the Monday morning staff devotional for the lovely ladies at One Purse today 🤍 It enriched my spirit greatly to be able to dive into the story of David & Goliath, but even better into how this story and the context surrounding it points us to Jesus. We dove into Israel’s foolishness in switching out the sovereign God for a foolish man based on him LOOKING the part & how we as Christians do the same with God’s word - switching things out for man’s words. It was a lovely time of discussion & prayer. Thank you ladies, special big thank you to Dr Marianne Thomas, for having me - it blessed me deeply. 📖

Unfortunate update: I thought for sure my flare would’ve passed by now but this thorn in my side has been allowed to stick around. Because I’ve had to prioritize rest and battle with pain/brain fog/etc, I‘m still working on that Romans study material so I’ll have to postpone the Roman’s study until it’s ready. With that said I’m going to stick to next weeks return to the podcast with an updated plan. 🤍

Something we went over a little in episode 1 & 2 - The Bible is a miracle in and of itself! 🤍

The Bible is less of a book and more accurately a collection of books — written over 1600 years, on 3 different continents, by approximately 40 different authors, in 3 different languages (2 primary languages: Greek and Hebrew, and 1 minor language: Aramaic). Yet despite encompassing such a long period of time, space, and contextual authorial perspective, the focus and agreement is remarkably consistent.
