NBGs minister of General Education Urges Abiem Community and Aweil in general to Prepare for Farming and Support the Elderly

The Minister of General Education and Instruction in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Hon. Akoon Diing Angok, has called on the Abiem Community and the entire NBGs population to prepare for farming and support the elderly.

Speaking during the 40-day memorial prayers for the late Sultan Mel Kuol Akol in Rialdit Ajuong village, the minister emphasized the importance of agriculture and community care. He urged the youth to take responsibility for their aging parents and elders.

“If you look around the towns and markets in Northern Bahr el Ghazal, you’ll see elderly people begging on the streets,” the minister stated. “This should not be happening. It’s a result of young people abandoning their elders and moving to Aweil and Juba.”

He reminded the youth that elders are a source of blessings. “If you neglect them now, how will you become leaders in the future?” he questioned.

The minister also urged parents to ensure their children are well-fed so they can attend school and focus on their education. “A child cannot learn on an empty stomach,” he said.

Addressing the family of the late Sultan Mel Kuol Akol, the minister advised them not to rely solely on Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel. “Dr. Benjamin and President Salva Kiir Mayardit are already carrying national responsibilities. I encourage you to stand strong as a family and work hard independently.”

In his closing remarks, the minister called for unity within the community.

SSPDF (Division 11) Recovers Stolen Messiria Cattle in Twic County.

In a decisive security operation, Division 11 of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), led by Major General Jima Rehan, has recovered 44 head of cattle allegedly stolen from the Messiria pastoralist community by unidentified actors in Twic County. The recovery follows a swift and coordinated response by security forces aimed at upholding the rule of law and deterring future acts of livestock theft. The Messiria, who migrate seasonally to Twic County between February and July, do so under a longstanding agreement that promotes peaceful coexistence and the safeguarding of livestock during the dry season.

Major General Rehan emphasized the government’s firm resolve in confronting lawlessness, assuring the public that criminal behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances. “No individual or group involved in criminal activity can operate above the authority of the state,” he stated. In accordance with the peace framework, local committees from both communities remain responsible for mediating disputes and facilitating the peaceful return of stolen livestock an approach seen as essential to sustaining stability and mutual trust in the region.

Garang Kon left stranded after $100,000 treatment fund disappears

A young boy suffering from a rare medical condition has come forward with a heartbreaking revelation, 100,000 USD meant for his treatment has mysteriously disappeared, leaving him stranded and in pain.

Garang Kon, widely known as Chol Muong Jr. or Tut Kew Jr., shared in a TikTok video that President Salva Kiir personally extended financial support for his medical treatment. Garang is said to be battling either Prader-Willi syndrome or Cushing’s syndrome, both of which can cause extreme weight gain and abnormal growth, making daily life a struggle.

According to Garang, the money was entrusted to businessman Wol Dut Angui. Of the total amount, $30,000 was reportedly sent to Garang’s family, while the remaining $70,000 was reserved for his treatment. However, that money never reached its intended purpose. Instead, it vanished.

Garang has yet to receive the life-changing medical care he desperately needs, and questions are mounting over who is responsible for the missing funds. Some fingers point at Wol Dut Angui, who was last year seen accompanying Garang to public offices, mobilizing donations for his treatment. Others suspect certain family members may have mishandled or misappropriated the funds.

The public outcry has been swift. Many netizens heartbroken by Garang’s story, are demanding accountability and urging those involved to come clean. Meanwhile, Wol Dut Angui has remained silent on the allegations, leaving Garang’s fate uncertain.

For now, the young boy who once had a glimmer of hope for recovery is left with nothing but unanswered questions and worsening health. As his condition deteriorates, the nation watches, hoping justice and the help he was promised will eventually reach him.
