We have been following keenly the case involving hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese and the state over allegations that he was smoking a substance suspected to be cannabis.
The court yesterday refused a bail application by the musician lawyer on the note that narcotics case are unbailable offence. But the question that comes to mind quickly is that the prosecutor has since his arrest not been able to prove that indeed he was smoking g***a as some may term it. On the second note is Kwaw Kese is also a public figure thus why is the court still holding him...... Why is it taking the prosecutor over two weeks to substantiate that the substance is a cannabis as they claim? WHERE IS THE EXHIBIT?

The Commissioner for human rights and administrative justice body, CHRAJ, Lauretta Lamptey has her job on the line after Chief Justice, Georgina Wood, initiated investigations to ascertain if she has abused her office.

Justice Georgina Wood has established a prima facie case against the CHRAJ boss after studying a number of petitions forwarded to her by President John Mahama.

One of such petitioners is the leader a pressure group Progressive Nationalist Forum, Richard Nyamah, who after receiving the CJ’s 24-paged decision, described it as “gratifying”.

Ms Lauretta Lamptey paid close to $5,000 monthly rent on her plush AU Village apartment for 33 months while over GHS180,000 was being spent to renovate her official bungalow.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nadowli/Kaleo, Mr Alban S.K. Bagbin, has confirmed that some Members of Parliament (MPs) take bribes to articulate the views of some individuals and organisations on the floor of Parliament.

He said evidence to that effect existed and added that the practice had persisted because of the lack of laid-down rules and ethics on lobbying in the country.

Mr Bagbin was speaking at a two-day seminar in Koforidua to representatives of 40 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which had sought to influence policy by having laws passed or changing the laws thought to be inimical to national development.

Ex-president Jerry John Rawlings has admitted to "sacrificing" innocent commanders during the 1979 revolutionary era which was characterized by chants of 'Let the blood flow'.

“We had no choice. We thought 'let two go'. Acheampong and a certain Utuka, very corrupt Generals. They were sacrificed. It was not enough. Ladies and gentlemen, 10 days later, we had to sacrifice another six and some of the Commanders were innocent good people but it had to be done because the rage in the country was too high, too much”, the former military leader said. Will you say his reason for the killing was good

The Attorney General’s Department (AG) has hinted that it might not prosecute any of the persons or companies involved in the GYEEDA scandal.

According to the AG, there might be no need for prosecution since the companies involved have pledged to refund the monies that were illegally paid to the state.

RLG Communications, Asongtaba Cottage Industries and Craftpro have all committed to refund some 55 million Ghana Cedis to the State.

The Deputy Attorney General, Domnic Ayineh said prosecution would only take place when there is substantial evidence to establish that the crime has been committed.

“To prosecute somebody, you should have evidence of criminality and what crime have they committed by simply entering into a transaction that has been declared?”

Mr. Ayineh further stated that the AG’s department will only prosecute the respective companies if the investigations carried out by the AG’s department, “throws out any act or conduct of a criminal character”

“We certainly shall be looking at the possibility of taking criminal action against the company or the directors or shareholders of the company,”Mr. Ayineh added.
