As is it now a tradition, for the third volume on his personal World Series collection, Alexny delivers a three-tracker global influenced EP covering the Anatolian peninsula with ‘Doenme’ influenced by disco-house, then all the way through Latin America with tropical cumbia based ‘Que Pasa’ and cheerful ‘Conmbe’ filled of colors and trumpets.

Furious Mandrill have long done a neat line in disco and funk with an exotic, world music-y twist and that's exactly what you get here. 'Vampires In La Habana' is, as you might expect, a very Latin-leaning affair, with densely layered percussion and parping trumpets that I'd call mariachi-esque did the title not specifically reference Cuba rather than Mexico! It'll be a little "busy" for some, production-wise, but floors that rock to Latin rhythms should find it very amenable. The accompanying 'Snake Charmer', meanwhile, puts a flute firmly front and centre, but wisely eschews the kind of cheesy cod Indian-isms you might be fearing...

Review: Mexico's Furious Mandrill bring us a three-tracker from Kristoff MX, AKA Christopher E de los Monteros from Quer?taro, who judging by the sound of this EP has clearly been digging on a lot of old African disco and funk records from the 1970s. 'Black Mamba' centres around a chanted vocal that sits atop a bed of fluttering guitars, while the more gently-paced 'Awake' is all rolling drums, brass stabs and a sing-song vocal in an unidentified language. Closer 'Manduke' then takes us into slightly more straight-up funk pastures, making it potentially the best bet for non-specialist floors.

- Discoholics Anonymous Review:

It’s no secret that Kristoff MX has a huge star with this reviewer. His work oozes of style and quality.

Black Mamba EP finds him back in familiar territory on freakishly cool Furious Mandrill Records with a three tracker that really packs a punch.

Black Mamba is a bastardly suave rub of hot spices with a chant-a-long potential that, if delivered at the right time, can blow up your dance floor. A gallon of Mambo and to shakes off a viper’s bite mixed with loco-Disco and fresh beats has this one dripping with it!

Awake snare drums its way into chant country and goes for the kill. This is a sly and driving piece of top-shelf Afro with a twist of Carolina Reaper rubbed on it.
MX twists it and turns it enough to drive his audience into a veritable frenzy.

Manduke lays it out percussive and firmly and slips effortlessly into a slick 70’ies groove straight off an add for a dapper after shave. Once again Kristoff MX employs a fiendish chant-worthy chorus that will have the floor buzzing.
Those percussions are just to die for!

Kristoff MX is in TOP shape on this triple-biter from one of the hottest purveyors in the field of dance music out there.

The clue's in the title here, as Argentinian producer Alexny (Ivan Alexis Podwiazny) returns to his semi-regular home of Furious Mandrill with a four-tracker that draws on Middle Eastern and Indian music for inspiration. While there are those who'll find the very idea problematic, there's much to enjoy here, with the first three cuts looking to traditional music while 'Jawani' seemingly draws on the sitar funk of the 60s and 70s. The timing's pretty neat, too: the sub-continent has really been starting to emerge on the international house and disco scene in recent years, so consider that zeitgeist nailed!

After impressing late last year with The Four Seasons EP, Hungarian duo The Magic Track returns to Furious Mandrill with more high-grade re-edits for those who like chunky beats, heavy horns and hedonistic disco flavours. The pick of a very strong bunch is arguably celebratory disco romp 'Panama Life' - all impassioned male vocals, fiery horns, filter sweeps and rubbery bass - though tooled-up Afro-disco opener 'Equality Pushes it Close'. Elsewhere, 'My Gentle Love' is a Clavinet-sporting chunk of rolling disco-house excellence, and 'Sweetest Goodbye' is a bass-heavy version of a sensationally summery number that should get plenty of plays at outdoor events in the months and years ahead.
