🎶 Track of the Week on MTR – Just After 1PM Daily!

“The Bookshop” by Oyama takes center stage this week. It’s the Icelandic shoegaze band’s first single since their 2024 album Everyone Left—and it arrived August 27th, 2025.

Why it matters:

The song is inspired by Reykjavík’s independent bookstore Skálda, located on Vesturgata—an idea born from a casual walk past the shop that sparked the creative spark. Iceland Review.

It’s mastered by Grammy and MPG-winning engineer Kevin Tuffy, and lyrically it evokes a sense of wandering and small-city life—the line “I went down to the bookshop / down to the bar…” channels that same loose, reflective energy. Iceland Review.

Oyama will support the release live this autumn with upcoming shows across the UK (London, Brighton, Reading) and will resume the run in Denmark, starting January 2026
