New Wave Rewind 100.1 WJRZ's “New Wave Rewind” goes back to the future of cool every Saturday night from 8p-10p,

100.1 WJRZ presents “New Wave Rewind”, hosted by TJ Bryan. “New Wave Rewind” goes back to the future of cool when the New Wave movement was catapulted by the launch of MTV. '70s punk like The Damned, S*x Pistols, The Clash, evolved into post-punk cool Talking Heads and Blondie, giving way to New Romantic, Goth, Shoe Gaze, College Rock, and other now fall under the Classic Alternative umbrella. N

ew Wave Rewind is a musical journey through one of the most exciting and evolutionary times in music history. Each week we dig deep for the best Alt Classics, looking back at New Wave history, celebrating birthdays and highlighting new releases from favorite acts, and featuring an entirely non-scientific Top 3 Countdown.

“New Wave Rewind” – Saturday nights from 8pm-10pm on 100.1 WJRZ and online at www.wjrz.com

Well hello there, and welcome to New Wave Rewind!

I have a confession. I was a Duranie. Actually, that’s less a confession than it is a proclamation. The video for “Planet Earth” was in heavy rotation on MTV, and I could not get enough. Like a new romantic looking for the TV sound, I watched for hours to catch it just one more time.

At one point I really wanted to be like Simon LeBon in the “Is There Something I Should Know” video, but I knew there was no way I could pull off that tie-tucked-into-the-shirt-with-shoulder-loops look.

In 7th grade Antmusic ruled. When Adam went solo, I dressed for Halloween as a cross between the Kings of the Wild Frontier and Friend Or Foe personas. It was awesome. But not as awesome as seeing Adam Ant for my very first concert. Oh, and some little band called INXS was the opener.

I quietly freaked out my mom when I explained to her the beauty of “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.” Following that up with a dissertation on “Mad World” was probably a bad idea.
