Hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, the scope of Khari Lucas’s artistry has expanded over beloved releases like Onwards, Love Suite and Weight, spanning from noirish, sample-driven R&B to covers of Strawberry Switchblade. Pulling from Tropicalia, the blues and the unvarnished honesty of rap music, Contour is a key member of a distinct cohort of young artists weaving the traditions of Black music into modern, avant-garde songcraft. We’re honored to work with Contour to bring his expansive vision into the world.

⚡⚡We’re thrilled to announce that we are accepting applicants for the third cycle of our three-day Recording Studio Residency at our home studio, Gary’s Electric in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Residents will have the opportunity to workshop, develop, and record their own material, taking full advantage of the studio facility and engineering services at no cost. In addition to the studio time, the residency will include a pre-production meeting/Zoom and engineer introduction. Residents will also retain 100% ownership of everything they produce.

No prior recording experience is required, and applicants from underrepresented communities will be prioritized. Applicants should be based in or able to travel to New York. We will accept applications for two weeks from July 22nd to August 5th, and then work with the selected applicant to schedule three days of studio time in the second half of 2024.
