The TRINIDAD & TOBAGO OVERSEAS COALITION, with the support of the BROOKLYN BOROUGH PRESIDENT's OFFICE & CACCI, LAUNCHES TRINIDAD & TOBAGO FLOOD RELIEF EFFORT IN NYC
Brooklyn, NY; Oct. 28, 2018 -- “OVER ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND flood victims in Trinidad and Tobago are in urgent need of immediate assistance,” says the Brooklyn-based president of Trinidad & Tobago Overseas Coalition (TTOC) in NYC, Joyce Stewart.
The Diaspora public is hereby informed that TTOC, with the support of Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACCI), Brooklyn’s Borough President Eric Adams and other local elected officials in Brooklyn, will be formally launching a massive Essential Items Collection Drive for the victims of the devastating October 21st weekend flood, which was caused by excessive torrential downpours brought on by Tropical Storm Bret, in Trinidad and Tobago.
The launch will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, inside Borough Hall, located at 209 Joralemon Street, Downtown Brooklyn, where the media and the public will be briefed on the extent of the devastation and on the existing flood-related needs in the affected areas in Trinidad and Tobago.
ITEMS NEEDED
Members of the general public are requested to donate the following items:
1. Canned & Other Non-Perishable Food (not expired)
3. Blankets/Linen & Portable/Inflatable Mattresses
4. Clothing Items (under & outerwear for M/F adults/children – all sizes | Only New & Gently Used Clean Items
5. Shoes & Slippers (M/F adults and children -- all sizes)
6. Personal Items (body soap, lotions, toothpaste, too the brushes, sanitary pads, etc)
7. Diapers – all sizes for children and adults
8. School Supplies – notebooks, pencils, pens, backpacks
9. Cleaning Detergents/Disinfectants
10. Mops & Brooms
11. Flashlights & Batteries
12. Portable Solar Powered Lights & Outlets
13. Medical Supplies – saline solution, bandages, syringes, chucks

ABOUT TTOC
TTOC was founded in 1974 by Trinidad & Tobago-born community organizer, Joyce Stewart, in Brooklyn, New York, after being commissioned by the then Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Eric Williams.
The organization is a community-based not-for profit organization, registered in the state of New York, which addresses the general concerns, wellbeing and welfare of Trinidadians & Tobagonians in particular, and West Indians, in general.
Some of the concerns addressed by this organization in the past, have included the offer of assistance regarding immigration, health, housing, and cultural event planning matters. TTOC continues to address issues affecting West Indians in the Diaspora, with chapters in various states, as well as, folks back in the Caribbean.
