The day of flip. Looking really good. I can tell I am growing these 15 plants in two different sips because there is a slight variation in color from the different nutrition. I am hoping that evens out over time with microbial compost tea.

They are going to look great!

Shaping Fire Episode 122 - Out Now!
Growing Cannabis for Hashmaking with guest Conner Terpwizard

"We love growing our own flower! And we also love hash! On this episode of Shaping Fire, host Shango Los sits down with Conner Terpwizard to discuss what flower characteristics make it good for hashing, how to choose genetics that will result in hash that meets your desires, and how to handle the plant during cultivation and post harvest to create the best hash possible.

Texas banning THC again is an awful idea for so many reasons. However, we do cheer on the people’s markets that will suddenly flourish again, as they do during any prohibition. It’s your time to shine!

I really appreciate beneficial insects and that I don’t have to spray for pests during flower, or anytime. It’s like adding 1000+ crew members to the cultivation team. They will crawl every nook and unscouted cranny and ensure no pest pressure is building up. And when the food runs out, they just walk away, never to be seen. Since connecting with , powered by , I just don’t even worry about pests or what I can still spray during flower. It has greatly improved the fun factor of cultivating by removing one of the biggest hassles. The Entomite Stratiolaelaps scimitus I’m adding in this photo, eats eggs, larvae and pupae of fungus gnats and thrips. Woot!

The installation of these new was so easy. I just screwed in three connectors and plugged them in. Shazam! It is so extraordinary to see light coming up from the substrate. I’m stoked to add weight to the bottoms and lows. Perhaps this is end of the concept of mids, if the whole plant now can yield top quality nugs. Looking forward to finding out.

One lessen learned is to plant in rows so the lights have a straight line to lay in. I fit the lights in after planting the starts. So, I’ll line up the rows differently next time.

The spring cycle is well underway in the Shaping Fire office demo tent. The Sea of Green last round was a successful experiment. But, the key lessen learned was to use clones of the same plant, if trying to fit 50 in a 4x4. There was just too much competition growing from seed with multiple varieties. The flower quality was incredible though. So this round we are doing different flavors, from fem seed again, but only 15 plants. What a great selection too!

Hell yea! For the first time, Leighton Morrison’s incredible living compost is now available to cultivators everywhere.

Leighton of has been on a few times to talk biologically potent compost and the horizon substrate technique. He makes a cold compost unlike anyone else. He doesn’t heat the compost at the end, which kills all the biology. He sterilizes all the inputs AT THE BEGINNING, so at the end of the process he has complex biology in his living compost, and it is pathogen-free and ready to ship.

I’ve been lucky to use Kingdom Aquaponics living compost for a few years since Leighton and I are friends. My plants absolutely thrive on it. AND, it crushed fungus gnats because the compost is packed with microorganisms like nematodes that eat gnat larva. I just sprayed some compost tea from his compost on there and the gnats were all gone in 48 hours. I was floored. And my plants have never been this healthy, no matter what soil, nutrients or compost I have used. Using this product plugs life force right into your ecosystem, and it works with whatever fertilizer system you use. I can’t recommend it enough.

So, Leighton has begun making enough batches for everyone. Up until now, you had to be a consulting client of his to get it. He works on HUGE restoration projects for the State of California, commercial orchards, and wineries..people who demand results because their $$$ is on the line.

Checkout living compost and soil test results at KingdomAquaponicsLLC.com. There is an easy link in my profile LinkTree too.

Woo hoo! New light day! A new BIOS light arriving for the office demo tent, and looking rather festive sitting outside the garage! I’ve been encouraged by the ongoing research by Craig Hartsough on the increased density of flowers that are exposed to under-canopy lighting. He keeps showing that under-canopy lights will turn larf into formidable buds, as if they grew as tops. I reached out to BIOS and picked up a pair of their new under-canopy lights and will have them set-up for the our flower cycle just starting. We will all watch these new lights in action over the next couple months. 👍

During the rest day in between Sunshine and Bow Glacier, we hit Grassi Lake. It was a slow, long, steady approach with a 15-20% incline. It took, like, forever. I laughed at it when I saw it was groomed, but damn, that was a lot of unchanging 20%. My glutes and thighs were fired up; especially since Sunshine was right at the top of my skill set the prior day. Little did I know that Bow Glacier the next day would surpass my skills, and I would still fricking rock it.

The reward was a gentle Dagobah-looking lake with lots of amphibians and a sheer rock above it that had rope climbers, and, oddly enough, a trio of gals taking each others’ OF pics. That was funny to come upon. Check the last photo for how much it@look like Dagobah.

So many shades of green! Grassi was badass. Looking forward to returning to Banff this summer again!

Shaping Fire Episode 121 - Out Now!
The Wooly Umbrella Plant: A New Source of Cannabinoids with guest Paula Berman PhD

While the US continues to struggle in its relationship to cannabis medicine, it sure would be helpful if we could obtain non-THC cannabinoids from more plants than just cannabis. On episode #121 of Shaping Fire, host Shango Los chats with cutting-edge plant biochemist Dr. Paula Berman about the Wooly Umbrella plant, its rare biochemical attributes, successful extraction methods, and the future of non-cannabis cannabinoids from this species.
