Penn State Behrend’s COVID-19 dashboard updated today. As previously mentioned, Penn State has stopped rapid testing due to false negatives and positives. As of today, we have one student in on-campus quarantine space and zero in isolation.

With Halloween approaching many people are left with the question what am i going to wear for Halloween? We all want an easy D.I.Y costume that we can create using everyday clothes! A great Costume to create to “Boo” from Monsters Inc., a cute costume that can be made with clothes in your everyday wardrobe.

This week on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020, staff of the Behrend Beacon drove around Erie delivering newspapers to the The ANNA Shelter, EARS-Erie Area Rabbit Society & Rescue and Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary and Adoption Center. Thank you to everyone for your support of the Behrend Beacon during this difficult time. You rock!

“On April 10th, 2019, astronomers have finally shed some “light” on what was thought to be impossible to see. After nearly a hundred years, there is finally direct evidence of black holes as predicted by Einstein's theories on General relativity.” wrote George Kharchilava. SO EXCITING!!

Pet-friendly housing | The Behrend Beacon
Pet-friendly housing?? Who wouldn't love that?🐶🐱🐰"Having pets on campus can very beneficial to the students, especially for freshmen. Many freshmen students are away from home for the first time and could suffer from homesickness. This could affect their overall mental well-being, either with anxiety, stress or depression. While students have a lot to handle being on their own, these types of psychological encounters can affect their academic learning." wrote Carly Pepper.

Sigma Xi | The Behrend Beacon
"The 28th annual undergraduate student research and creative accomplishment conference allowed students from numerous schools to present their research. Hosted at Penn State Behrend, the Northwestern Pennsylvania Sigma Xi chapter organized the event [...]. Poetry reading | The Behrend Beacon
"On Thursday, April 4th [...] Penn State Behrend had its second poetry reading of the semester. This reading was held by non-other than David Baker [...]. He currently has twelve books out, his newest book, 'Swift', was released approximately three weeks ago. [...] When speaking about Swift, Baker stated, 'If I were in a rock’n’roll band, this would contain my greatest hits.' The book speaks of multiple different topics, mainly focusing on noticing the world, articulating the world and his family." wrote Kylie John-Klein. Reforming the criminal system | The Behrend Beacon

Behrend contributes big $ to Erie | The Behrend Beacon
"An economic study released by Penn State in late Feb. this year has indicated that the Behrend campus contributes upwards of $178.9 million and over 2,600 jobs to the Erie economy. [...] The complex of businesses in Knowledge Park, which shares a direct relationship with the Behrend community, contributes another 500 or more jobs to the Erie community." wrote Jeremiah Hassel. This is awesome to find out! Behrend has a bigger impact than most people realize.

Erie County health rate falls | The Behrend Beacon

Apocalypse survival major | The Behrend Beacon
"Penn State Behrend will be offering a new major in fall 2019. [...] The school decided to offer a degree in apocalypse training. It’s a survival degree that will teach students everything that they will need to prepare for total destruction. [...] They will have classes ranging from how to collect rainwater, to how to survive in toxic environments." wrote Broc Lee. How cool is that??
