2023 was a year of gratitude and living fully in the life that we’ve built. slowed down, pulled back, and dug deeper. the 3 years that preceded were tumultuous - it was on my heart to cut out the noise and spend some time appreciating the fullness of these four walls. hard seasons require intense simplification. i found a new appreciation for simpler things and rediscovered how important self discipline is.. I am insanely grateful for how far I’ve come this year. 🤍

i feel free to continue authentically carving out the life I want for myself… because ive done the deep work to know exactly what that is

Hi 🤍 from me and my fam 😻 I’m Katrice, my husband’s name is Keith, and we have two beautiful girls - Berkeley, 3 and Alexandria, 2. They are 15 months apart and were planned-ish… i was still nursing when I got pregnant with sissy 😅 we are true pandemic parents and were kind of slapped in the face with a new baby and new world in 2020. we spend a lot of time just the four of us. it’s hard to get time away but figuring it out is kind of our default setting now. 🫠 what else do you want to know? I’m so glad you’re here!

our big girls 🥹 growing up so fast! i teared up at dropoff this morning and I didn’t think I would 🫣 swipe to see them last year. Alexandria is in the dress Berks wore 😭 I hope they have an amazing year in their new rooms and wishing a great year to all of your babies too! Berkeleys beads fell off last night while she slept and I didn’t have anymore clear beads nor do I know how to put on beads so I’ll be Amazon prime-ing some more tools for my mom toolkit today 🤣

it’s time to retire this quote.

strong: adj. - able to withstand great force or pressure.

our girls are strong enough - born into a system built on patriarchy, and my girls, racism. unfortunately, they are born strong because they have to be. why would I perpetuate that when it’s my job to facilitate them on their path to joy, authenticity, and wellness? it is not to push them into taking on the brunt of more work.

my journey into womanhood and motherhood these past few years has taught me that words matter. although this is a quote with good intentions, language is important and must be criticized when necessary.

Black women, in particular, have been strong. too strong. for too long. been resilient. too resilient. for too long.

so pardon me while I rephrase this to more of the following… here’s to brave women, encouraged women, authentic women, joyful women, inquisitive women, confident women, ambitious women, fun women, open women, and extraordinary women.

may we know them.
may we be them.
may we raise them.

👋🏾 had a couple lil babies back to back -

gonna be working on this body of mine for the next few months. excited and a little nervous bc I haven’t focused on my physical health since before getting pregnant - because I’ve been so focused on my mental health after ppd + ppa. and I’m so glad I put that first.

i hereby nominate myself as the president of the ✨focus on your mental health before stressing over a pre-baby body ✨committee - unless the alternative works for you… but personally, I had to remember what was more important - now I’m ready to get back to it 🤍
