When my friend Ben Brown asked me to be a guest on his podcast, Vibing the Apocalypse, I didn't know where the conversation would go.

In our professional life (whatever that means), Andrea and I both work with horses and people.

We help riders and horse people understand their horse’s behavior, how to communicate with them, and how to ride more balanced and soft.

We often collaborate with other professionals in the programs over at my company, HorseClass

Just last week, we had a call with our WISE Riders Club (just for riders 50+) with George Brauneis, a literal rocket scientist turned horse trainer.

There are some people that embody wisdom. George is one of these people.

I wanted to share one quote that has been in my mind ever since that call.

Chasing her wild side, Callie moved across the country and found a friend… who shared her love of motorcycles. That led to a life changing crash. But she doesn’t quit doing what she loves because it’s dangerous. Callie soon had a new motorcycle… and a new problem when she caught fire while riding it!

As for Andrea, she explains why you shouldn’t try to ride up the side of the volcano.

At least you never have to worry about accidentally catching yourself on fire while riding a horse.

Adventure is something that we both love, so here is a poem to honour the open road!

Ah, the little moments of “oh crap” that happen each day when we live with animals.

Today, our newly rescued 6lb Chihuahua Chapulin decided it would be fun to leap from the open window of the jeep as we headed down the road.

There appeared to be no particular reason, other than he is the small dog version of an adrenaline ju**ie.

(He has previously lept from Dani’s lifeguard tower into the sand pile below simply to greet an attractive female dog 10x his size passing by.)

Luckily, I had already had my coffee and with the reflexes of a cat I caught him as he sailed past me for the open window.

Crisis averted and now Chapulin wears his leash and the windows are up.

Trekking across Costa Rica was one of the most mental things i have ever done. It was also the most amazing, invigorating and freeing time of my life thus far.

I love meeting people from different cultures.

To have the opportunity to see the world from someone else’s point of view puts priorities in perspective for me.

The things I think I have to have.

The beliefs I view as truth.

I start to realize that all these things are just a collection of “me”, not what the world is or should be.

I also love meeting the animals.

Seeing how the animals and the people often share the same energy, the same essence.

It was like this in Mongolia.

I met the toughest, hardiest, fastest horses.

They were not tamed.

And neither were the people.

Chris has dragged me kicking and screaming back from vacation.

Eating is one of my favourite things to do when travelling, trying all the local delicacies.

Imagine my horror when I was confronted with the same offerings that Callie graciously received in the Mongol Derby!

Thankfully, we also had fruit, home baked bread and pastries.

Needless to say, the leg stayed where it was! Not on my plate!
