Well, that’s it for now. TikTok is dark, and I’m experiencing all the emotions. I’m furious, sad, in disbelief, and yet, still hopeful it will come back.
This “app” allowed me to connect with others and build a small community of almost 50,000 followers. I met other homeschool families and became friends with them. I went viral, several times, and had newspapers and news outlets reach out to me about my posts. I shared the unit study tables I created for our girls and people loved them so much they wanted me to create a guide to teach them how to do it, so I did. I started selling digital unit study guides and helped other families realize they didn’t have to be afraid of teaching their children.
TikTok became my part time “job” that brought in more income than when I was working part time at my optical job. I was able to support new authors, musicians, artists, and local businesses. I found small shops and bought their products, helping them support their families. And I cried. A lot. Over other’s stories, and the generosity of the entire TikTok community.
There is no other app like TikTok. I hope it comes back, but if not, I know God has other plans for all 170 million of us who lost our community, friends, and income.
I will be posting here, IG, and on YouTube. I hope I find my amazing community again soon!
