Best wishes for a happy feastday to all followers of St. Benedict, in any capacity -- or color of habit! Though in general we are "Black Benedictines," sometimes in the tropics our monks have adapted in the way we see here. Taken in the late 1960s at what was then the new priory of St. Procopius in Chaiyi, Taiwan, the local community is seen in white. From Fr. James, vocation director: Early afternoon yesterday, Abbot Austin and the monks welcomed Richard Litak into the postulancy program of the Abbey. From Evergreen Park, IL, Br. Richard holds an associate's degree from Moraine Valley Community College. Please keep him in your prayers as he continues, with the community's assistance, to discern his vocation.
