On Saturday June 26th during Support Don't Punish's Global Day of Action, the first Medical Cannabis political party in Asia 'Medical Cannabis Party' gathered Medical Cannabis advocates from around the Philippines to rally infront of The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to urge the Philippine Government to remove Cannabis from it's current drug schedule.

Afterwards, advocates cycled all the way to Quezon City Memorial Circle and held a celebration to help educate the Filipino community on the benefits and opportunities that Cannabis can provide for the Philippines.

Kudos to Medical Cannabis Party, Sensible Philippines and all the affiliated associations for hosting this amazing rally and event!

On Monday, June 28th, Mexico's Supreme Court has struck down laws which criminalized the recreational use of Cannabis after advocates pushed for decriminalization as a means to reduce the cartel-fueled violence in their country.

"Now to legally obtain cannabis, citizens must apply for a permit from the country's health regulator, the Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris), the Supreme Court said. Once permitted, anybody over 18 years of age can possess up to 28 grams of cannabis, the Supreme Court ruled."

"Before, Mexican citizens were able to access cannabis but only after filing a court injunction."

"The use of medicinal ma*****na has been legal in Mexico since 2017."

Medical Cannabis Party calls on fellow cannabis advocates, drug policy reformers and human rights activists to join us in a bike rally to call for the immediate passage of medical cannabis bills currently pending in Congress, and for the Dangerous Drugs Board to adopt the United Nations resolution rescheduling cannabis as medicine.

The bike rally will start at the Boys Scout Circle, Tomas Morato and will end at the Commission on Human Rights, UP Diliman. We will join our fellow advocates and activists to commemorate the Support. Don't Punish Global Day of Action (Philippines.

With the recent United Nations vote officially recognizing cannabis as medicine; the adoption of several resolutions of the Dangerous Drugs Board declassifying CBD with no more than .1% THC and harmonizing rules on acquiring and possessing medical cannabis thru Compassionate Special Permit; and the growing support on pending bills on medical cannabis and h**p in Congress, it is high time that our community of cannabis advocates consolidate our small victories and unite our ranks, to plan coordinated campaigns and actions to further our calls and demands.

The country will elect its new set of national leaders next year, 2022. And it is imperative to us to highlight and mainstream cannabis issues as a major electoral agenda.

With this, we would like to invite you to a 'General Consultation on Cannabis Issues and 2022 Electoral Plans' on March 19, 2021, 2:00 pm. It will be conducted on a mixed face-to-face and via Zoom conference. Limited seats available at the physical venue for selected registrants.

Among the agenda to be discussed will be updates on the legal and regulatory cannabis framework; briefing on drug policy reform; on industrial h**p; on drug war and International Criminal Court case of tokhang victims; current international issues on cannabis (future Philippine concerns); and drafting of a Philippine Cannabis Electoral Agenda.

Although Cannabis is still illegal in Hong Kong, A new cafe named 'Found', is introducing a range of food and drinks that are infused with Cannabidiol (CBD).

Found is allowed to sell CBD-infused food and beverages as long as there is no THC present in them.

"According to the Hong Kong government’s Centre for Food and Safety, under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, the illicit import of cannabis or any products that contain controlled cannabinoids constitutes a criminal offense.

Although CBD is a cannabinoid, it is not classified as a dangerous drug under Hong Kong law."

A bottle of cold CBD-infused coffee costs 80 Hong Kong dollars (500php) at Found, while a can of CBD beer is HK$70 (437php).

“The coffee is delicious, and I like the effect that the CBD has on me,” Hussey said. “Cognitively and physically, it kind of helps me get through the aches and pains of a normal day.”

"Since 1 November 2018, it has been legal for doctors to prescribe medicinal cannabis products, but most such products are unlicensed and have not been through full clinical trials.

Only one drug - called Epidyolex - is licensed in the UK and recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence as a treatment for epilepsy.

It contains only CBD and not the other active chemicals in cannabis, including THC.

Some families say it does not effectively stop seizures."

We are looking for long-term volunteers who would like to be a part of our dedicated team and elevate HALAMAN to the next level!

Please keep in mind that HALAMAN is an informal organization as of right now, and we are all currently operating out of good will to help push the Philippine Cannabis movement forward. (No one is earning from the work shown in HALAMAN's social media pages at the moment.)

Selected Volunteers will be absorbed into the team once we are able to produce a budget for our future projects.

As of right now, we are looking for a Translator with the following requirements:
-Above 21 years old
-Fluent in both English and Tagalog
-College Graduate
-Knowledgeable in the basics of Cannabis

Volunteers with the following will be prioritized:
-Has a background in working with Digital Media (Video Editing, graphic design etc.)
-Has dual citizenship/foreign passport (In the event that we get the opportunity to go abroad to shoot videos on a moment's notice)

The time has finally come. A democratic senator has finally filed a bill into the U.S. senate that would treat Cannabis similarly to To***co.

"This piece of legislation, sponsored by Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN), would remove cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act and direct several federal agencies to develop regulations for the plant.

Titled the “Substance Regulation and Safety Act,” the bill would deschedule cannabis, require the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to develop rules that treat ma*****na the same as to***co, create a national research institute to evaluate the risks and benefits of cannabis, require the U.S. Department of Agriculture to impose quality control standards and mandate that the Department of Transportation study methods for detecting THC-impaired driving."

Colombia, a country that was once notorious for it's drug war, has legalized Medical Cannabis three years ago. Now, Colombia is trying to get ready for legalizing cannabis for adult-use!

"While the COVID-19 pandemic slowed down the industry’s growth, by the start of 2020, Colombia already featured a developed industry, with multiple million-dollar companies including Khiron (TSXV: KHRN), (OTCQX: KHRNF), Avicanna (TSX: AVCN) (OTCQX: AVCNF), PharmaCielo (TSXV: PCLO) (OTCQX: PCLOF) and Clever Leaves.

Since Decree 613 went into action, over 656 licenses have reportedly been issued, including 164 for the cultivation of psychoactive cannabis and 394 for non-psychoactive plants.

By 2030, the Colombian cannabis industry is expected to generate over 41 thousand jobs, according to a report by Fedesarrollo, a Bogotá-based public policy auditing firm."

Another country joins the green rush!

On Friday September 4th, The South African Parliament passed the "Cannabis for private purposes" Bill.

This newly passed law aims to achieve the following:

-Respect the right to privacy of an adult person to possess cannabis plant
cultivation material; to cultivate a prescribed quantity of cannabis
plants; to possess a prescribed quantity of cannabis; and to consume
cannabis;

-Regulate the possession of cannabis plant cultivation material; the
cultivation of cannabis plants; the possession of cannabis; and the
consumption of cannabis by an adult person;

-Protect adults and children against the harms of cannabis;

-Provide for the expungement of criminal records of persons convicted
of possession or use of cannabis;

-Delete and amend provisions of certain laws; and provide for matters connected therewith.

While other countries are joining the cannabis movement, why is the Philippines still far behind despite the years of progress that has been made?
