Research shows that INDIVIDUALS are better at divergent thinking + generating new ideas while GROUPS are better at recognizing the best ideas + how to implement them.

Having been involved in countless 'brainstorming sessions' through my career, I couldn't agree more. Many times the more introverted members of the team get steam rolled, the same people dominate the process, or there is even a reticence to share if your idea seems far fetched.

Seems instinctive to understand that allowing contributions and ideas from all members of your team makes for a better end product.

If you aren't familiar with it, check out Jeff Bezos 6-page memo structure required for all big ideas at Amazon. Clearly something is working...

Research suggests this overused technique doesn't generate better ideas.

Roles played at Positive Impact Magazine: Writer, Editor, Content Creation, Graphic Design, Creative Direction, Advisory Board Member.

It was such a good publication but unfortunately, like many magazines, the times have changed and it couldn't support itself.

I liked everything about this work: laying out a magazine really scratches that itch for good spatial relations and writing creative stories that shine a light on the positive keeps me grounded in the good.

I pitched Pharrell Williams planners on as a major collaborator for the speaker series and think tank.

They were awesome to work with and, although we won't be involved until next year, I am impressed by their vision.

This is an extraordinary undertaking by a very capable group of leaders. Let's show our support and elevate our community in new ways.

The City Council will be briefed Tuesday on aspects of the festival planned for April 26 to 28. The official lineup of performers and guest speakers will be announced next

About a decade ago I met Wallace J Nichols PhD for the first time. I had just created a line of children's wear (Mauruuru) and in my oh-so optimistic way, I wanted to share my 'riches' with someone doing inspiring work in the world. J was the perfect fit.

So, I sent him a package with gifts for his family and a little note: here's what you do in the world - here's what I do in the world...if you want to brainstorm about how to do it together, reach out! And just like J, he did.

He had an idea about a blue marble...I had some extra bags for packaging and a little creativity up my sleeve...and, wah-la The Blue Marbles Project took flight!

Almost a decade later we have sent nearly a million marbles around the world, hosted 8 Blue Mind Summits, and booked J for 300+ international lectures. His book reached the best seller list, he contributed to over ten blue-minded films, built a vast network of water lovers all over the world, and his courage to tell a new water story has enabled him to excel in ALL media spaces.

Who knew?

J and I would agree that WATER is (and has been) our mutual client. Connecting people to its vast emotional benefits is (and has been) our collective mission. While it hasn't always been easy, it has always been worth it.

And that's how an east coast-right brain-creative girl with a penchant for logistics intersected over a blue marble with a west-coast-left brain-scientist guy with an appetite for emotion.

As this article I wrote in the 'early days' shares:

"The gifts that this scientist brings to the world are going to speak to the heart of humanity, be centered in gratitude and wrapped in blue. Of that you can be certain."

Mission accomplished, J. Mission accomplished.

In 2012, I was asked to drive to Miami to interview a man who was a leader in the South Beach social scene. Truth be told, I was not into it and I really don't think he was either. Call it 'a favor for a friend'...one we were both doing our utmost to honor.

Much to my surprise (and, I suspect, his too) we would spend the next 8 hours engaged in an intense dialogue about our world and the world beyond our world. We shared visions and stories...and, as I made my way back to West Palm Beach at 2am, I knew that I had turned a corner on what I knew to be true.

Needless to say, I loved writing and designing this feature article on Michael Capponi, a fascinating and far reaching humanitarian who is taking the world on...one crisis at a time. His vision, The Global Empowerment Mission, is now a reality and I am so proud of the spirit this team is bringing to the world.

Thank you, Michael, for changing my mind and living up to the promise. I am repeatedly inspired by the experience of watching you travel through your space.
