For , we’d like to shout out to Tequila Mockingbird, a black rocker from the early days of the LA punk scene. She, unfortunately, has been obscured by history in the same way that many women and people of color so often are. Today, we’d like to highlight her and everything she did for the scene.

In the 1970s, she befriended the and *xPistols. She worked as the music supervisor for New Wave Theater (a punk variety show that aired in LA in the 80s). The show featured bands like , , , and a lot more.

Tequila worked as ’s backup singer and manager, and booked live shows, ran her own magazine, and now she writes for various publications as she continues to perform in different locations in Los Angeles. She started in Hollywood and is diligently keeping her promise to Darby Crash to keep punk alive. ✊ We salute you, Tequila!

Join us tonight for the CLOSING of the Punk Magazine 40th exhibit !Happening [ 6 East 1st Street (corner Bowery)].

The brilliance of the flashback brought forth by the exhibit is coming to an end tonight. Two weeks on now, we saw a fabulous opening night, two very revealing Talk Panels and above all we realized the importance of the role and how pertinent PUNK Magazine ended up being in the subsequent cultural, musical and artistic genres. The gathering of the extraordinary artistic & musical talent on Opening night (Thursday January 14th), and the significance in bringing them together, cannot be measured and is a testament to the influence of PUNK Magazine to this day. Mr. John Holmstrom is indeed a true American Icon.

And Howl! Happening - an Arturo Vega Project ( Howl Happening) is an extremely relevant and important Lower East Side institution.

Join us for one final encounter and review with us the artistry, and the wonderful people who are still available to share their very personal anecdotes with us.
