The Uptaker (Jef Verdick) is een parodie op de legendarische Trojan LP van Derrick Harriott & The Crystalites, The Undertaker. The Uptaker
The Uptaker begon 20 jaar geleden samen met enkele vrienden en familie de skaband ‘Bottle Of Moonshine’. De band speelt momenteel niet meer, maar de liefde voor Jamaicaanse muziek geraakte hij nooit kwijt. Door de Turnhoutse DJ Sugar Charly bezig te zien en te horen kreeg The Uptaker ook de vinylmicrobe te pakken en zo begon hij 15 jaar terug met het verzamelen van originele Jamaicaanse oldies. Th
e Uptaker draaide reeds op Reggae Geel en is sinds 2022 ook één van de selectors op Serendipity Sound en Giraffe Sound. Verwacht je aan het beste uit 2 deccenia Jamaicaanse muziek. Een staaltje muziekgeschiedenis van oldies tot early roots en dat allemaal op originele vinyl en 45’s! Lace up that boots, it’s skankin’ time!

Thumbs up Sounds for their sublime customer service. Package was send as a gift without invoice. Bpost only asked for a receipt of a mail between both parties to proof that (easy to imitate). Received the package after a month collecting dust at the Belgian customs and I was very surprised they didn't asked for extra import costs when picking up today! Dealing with sellers overseas, this is the new way to do it guess. Or was I just a lucky guy? Then by opening, I even was rewarded for my patience, finding a nice bonus record. Bless up anytime Sounds UK! Highly recommended. Peace ✌️

Mr. Lee 'Scratch' Perry (£$P), The Mighty Upsetter, Spaghetti Western Lover, Mad Professor avant la lettre, Dub Pioneer and so much more… Rarely has genius and voodoo madness come so close together in the musical world I know so far. Making fun of everyone and getting away with it because nobody really understood what and why you did what you did. From Studio One to Joe Gibbs, to your own 'Upsetter/Justice League' label. The Skinheads in the UK were already aware that you were just a bit 'dirtier' as everyone else. The Wailers Band that grew out of The Upsetters, guys who under your wing were probably completely unaware of what was coming their way. And then the (pre)DUBS – Cloak And Dagger, Rhythm Shower, Dub Revolution, Kung Fu Meets The Dragon, ... turned gray! Glad to have met you at a Reggae Geel Indoor when I stood in front of you with an old 'Trojan' LP to sign and you no longer recognized yourself in the photo. "That's not me" I can still hear you say. RIP!
