🌳 A brand new piece of play equipment, a Teqball table has been installed at Bonny Grove Park in Marton West.

A Teqball table resembles a table tennis table and can be played either between two players or four players as a double game.

It is always played on a curved table and with a football, hit by any part of the body, except your hands ⚽

Why not head down to Bonny Grove Park this weekend and try out this new sport.

Resurfacing work on a key Middlesbrough route is due to get under way at the weekend.

The improvements to Stainton Way between the junction with Hemlington Hall Road and the Cleveland Police headquarters will be carried out between this Sunday and next Friday.

This scheme has been planned for some time, but has been brought forward due to road safety issues caused by the rapid deterioration of this section of carriageway.

The work will be carried out between 8am and 4pm on Sunday, and between 6pm and midnight during the week. Diversion routes will be signposted.

A Middlesbrough Council spokesman said: “Road closures will be localised where possible, with traffic management measures removed as soon as the work is complete.

“We aim to keep any disruption to a minimum and apologise to motorists for any inconvenience caused.”

£447k in funding has been secured to plant another 1,100 trees in Middlesbrough over the next two years 🌳

Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston, who has made a priority of environmental issues, said it was another big step towards the ambition of planting more than 15,000 trees in the town.

He said: "We're talking more and more about the environment and how we fight climate change but actions always speak louder than words and this is real action.

"Every single mature tree absorbs 20 kilos of carbon which is absolutely fantastic but they do so much more as well including changing the look of any area for the better and being great for mental health."

The news follows on from the previous successful funding application to the Urban Tree Challenge Fund in 2019 which has seen 1,200 trees planted in the 2020-2021 financial year.
