Here it is! Episode 6, the last in the RAGTIME TO REAL TIME series. Looking forward to seeing TXST Musical Theatre and everyone at the opening night of RAGTIME on April 17 at the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre.

At the turn of the 20th century in America, women had limited job opportunities and no voting rights. This presented a challenge for most women but the problems were amplified for women of color. In Episode Five of the web series, RAGTIME IN REAL TIME, actress Rachel Webb sheds light on the problems African American women faced during the era and how it affects the story of RAGTIME.

Going to see the Texas State Department of Theatre and Dance production of RAGTIME? Before you head to the theatre, check out the new web series RAGTIME IN REAL TIME. Created by the Spring 2018 Web Series I class, RAGTIME IN REAL TIME provides historical context and explores show themes such as race relations, socioeconomic class, and inequality. Over six episodes, you’ll hear from RAGTIME’s Director, Musical Director, Set and Costume Designers, cast and crew, and view behind the scenes footage and images that illuminate the era. Script Lab will meet at 6:30 in Room 206. The reading is open to any student who'd like to listen and participate in the discussion. Come collaborate with writers, actors and fellow filmmakers. We can't wait to get started and look forward to seeing you all there!

Web Series Screening! Spring 2017 Advanced Web Series class alumni Chris Soliz' A GAY IN THE LIFE and Christi Kerr's DOG PEOPLE will be featured in a special screening at the Stonewall Warehouse on September 22. Chris and Christi developed and produced these shows as part of the Web Series class last year. I'm especially proud that Chris Soliz (with Christi as part of his crew) has continued to add episodes to A GAY IN THE LIFE and completed the series.

If you're curious about what is possible in Web Series or just want to see some great work, please come out on Sept. 22!
