I was sad to hear about Margaret Pellegrini's passing. I met her several times over the course of my career, and she was very sweet and funny.

Margaret Pellegrini, one of the last surviving Munchkins from the original production of "The Wizard of Oz," died Wednesday, the Munchkins spokesman said. She was 89.

I just rediscovered this interview with former Wizard of Oz munchkin Ruth Duccini. My favorite section:

Q: Did you have to audition?
A: Not really. They just wanted small people. Right now, I’m 4-foot-3. I’ve shrunk a little bit.

Q: How tall were you then?
A: Maybe 4-foot-4.

At 94, she’s the oldest surviving little person from the 1939 classic about the Yellow Brick Road. Ruth Duccini shares her memories of Dorothy with Ramin Setoodeh.

This Ultra Rare Version appears to have been made directly from tape dubbed off the master tape. Since the master tape of this song is still locked "safely" ...
