IRA PANGANIBAN'S 'DEAR KIM HENARES' OPEN LETTER FOR PACQUIAO

Panganiban, who was a former ABS-CBN correspondent and now a newscaster for Inquirer Radio, also questioned why BIR is not keen on looking at Lucio Tan "who owes the country more than 5-billion pesos in tax."

Here's the full letter:

Dear Kim Henares,

I do not doubt your sincerity to collect taxes from every Filipino, living or dead.

I do not even doubt your integrity in making sure that you are able to collect the proper taxes from everyone.

I am however questioning your motives and arbitrary choice in the personalities you choose to prosecute.

I am going to cite one particular person who has been on the BIR's radar as a perennial tax evader for the last 20-years with cases going in and out of court.

His name is Lucio Tan and he owes the country more than 5-billion pesos in tax liabilities decided on numerous times by the Supreme Court as executory and final and yet no garnishment order was ever made until his petition reaches the SC, who would then reverse their decisions time and again.

Lucio Tan was never known for his philanthropy or good business practices. He authored the contractualization of PAL and Asia Brewery employees which was not only detrimental to Filipino Labor but also to taxes that could be collected from these workers had they been regular employees.

Lucio Tan is also accused of ill-gotten wealth from his Marcos days, and yet he continues to enjoy his money.

Congressman Manny Pacquiao's case is not even at the High Court and his earnings have already been garnished.

You have been given certified true copies of Pacman's tax payments in the US and yet you refuse to recognize this and insist on originals which I believe, but I may be mistaken, even ?US citizens have no access to.

And to think that Pacquiao earned his money through honest, literally blood, sweat and tears. And he is one of about ten persons who insist in keeping his money in the Philippines because he is a patriot.

He could have stashed it somewhere you cannot reach if he had things to hide, but he kept it here, so our economy can make use of it.

You cannot even freeze the money of politicians involved in the PDAF scam but you can do this to an ordinary man who managed to rise above all of you through hard work, guts, integrity and the work of his own hands.

And that is why your integrity is rapidly being eroded, because you don't seem to think anymore. You just grab the first victim that cannot fight you.

Because even if Pacquiao is a Congressman, he is not connected to the old boys club and so does not have the clout of the Tan's, Sy's, Dy's and others.

Oh, and Lucio Tan did give over 100 million to Noynoy's election kitty while Pacquiao was with the opposition.

I guess we know now the motivations don't we?

A TAIWANESE MAN DIED AFTER PLAYING LEAGUE OF LEGENDS FOR 23 HOURS.

During a weekend where Riot offered League of Legends players in Taiwan, 400% more IP a tragic death occurred in an internet cafe. The deceased man is a 23-year-old Taiwanese who had played LoL in 23 hours on the internet cafe. The man had been under family heart trouble in the past and police said it was probably exhaustion, cold weather and that the man was sitting still so long that caused a heart attack.

None of the other visitors noticed that the man had died when he had left his hands on the keyboard and mouse after the sudden death occurred. It was one of those who worked in the internet cafe who discovered that the man was dead when she tried to wake him.

Yung katabi kong lalaki (Di ko siya kilala bsta mukhang nagtratrbho na kasing edad ko lang dn) nagbayad sya ng 100pesos sa konduktor papuntang Bagong Bayan hiningan siya ng dos nung Konduktor tapos nagbigay naman yung katabi ko. Pagkatpos nun umalis yung konduktor naghingi ng bayad sa mga tao pa sa likod hinayaan lang nung katabi ko kasi akala nya wala pa panukli. So ayun hanggang sa dumaan na ulit yung konduktor sa inuupuan namin at nung hiningi nung katabi ko yung sukli nya ang sabe nung konduktor “wala ka namang binayad.” Napatingin lang ako hindi muna ako nakielam tapos hanggang sa paulit ulit na hinhingi nung katabi ko yung sukli nya tuwing dadaan skanya yung konduktor ng bus pero lagging sagot sknya “wala!” “wala kang binabayad.” Tapos yung sinasabi lang ng katabi ko “kuya sukli ko bgay mo na.” (mahinahon pa siya) tpos nung ramdam ko ng naiinis na yung katabi ko sinabi na nya na “itanong mo pa sa katabi ko nagbayad ako.” Dun ako nagstart makielam at sabhin na “Nagbayad yan kuya nakita ko.” Tapos yung sagot sakin nung konduktor “Wag kang makielam dito.” Potek! Tapos sinabi ko pa ulit pinagtanggol ko kahit papano si kuya na nagbayad nga sya. Nangigigil ako pero wala ako magawa napaka bait nung katabi ko e. Khit na hndi siya sinuklian wala akong narinig na mura skanya na pwdeng pwde nyang sabhin sa mandurugas na konduktor na to. Sa inis lang nya binalik nya yung ticket na bgay skanya nung konduktor at alam nyo ginwa nung konduktor? Hinagis nya ung ticket sa lapag! tapos sinabi nung katabi ko na "nagtratrabaho ako di ako manloloko" tapos tumhimik nalang sya kasi nagtitinginan na yung mga pasahero. Di pa sya nakuntento noh? nanghingi pa ng dos! HAHA Grabe talaga nakakairita!

MABAIT YUNG NAKATABI KO PERO AKO HINDI! kasi WORKING-STUDENT AKO! yung knikita ko sa pag part time pinangbabaon ko at pinangkakaen ko sa araw araw kong pagpasok sa school! di ako papayag na yung pinaghirapan ko para makapag-aral e nanakawin lang! madami na akong nasaksihan na ganito yung iba nga nagsusuntukan pa sa loob ng bus.

Meron din akong natyempuhan na bus na hindi ako sinuklian agad pero nung pababa na ako kahit nwala ko pa yung bigay na ticket na bigay nung konduktor bingay nya parin yung sukli ko. Kase yung matitinong konduktor may mga mahuhusay na utak alam nila sino di nagbayad at nagbayad.


Pasensya kana kinuhanan kita ng picture pati plate number ng bus nyo. Garapalan ka e khit may nagtestigo na di ka pa natinag. Goodluck nalang sayo.

A controversial story of Iglesia ni Cristo Church in Iloilo City who refused to shelter some victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda have gone viral for the past few hours after it was posted on “Splendor of the Church” blog on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.

According to the author of the blog a certain Mai Militante shared a story of her staff during the Typhoon Yolanda incident in Iloilo City.

HERE'S THE STORY OF MAI MILITANTE:
"Story of our staff from yolanda typhoon incident…. they were walking from estancia to balasan road…it was still raining and they were soaking wet, hungry, tired and dead scared…
they stopped and thought they could rest at the church of Iglesia in Cristo… but people from the that church told them they cannot come in bcoz they are not members of that church… i was shocked with this story…. as they say “what u sow so shall you reap.” Grabe…"


Churches are the primary shelters of those victims during the times of calamities but the incident happened in an INC Church was opposite to what Filipinos have been expecting.
