Hi everyone.
This may not come as too much of a surprise to some of you, but I’ve spent the weekend thinking very deeply about Leitrim Life Magazine’s future. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not financially viable without a radical re-think so I’m putting it on hold whilst I look at different business models and formats.
Realistically, it’s unlikely that there will be a second issue before the end of the year. It’s a shame as I still believe that there’s a huge amount of great material out there, but at the end of the day it’s got to pay its way.
I’m very sorry if you are in the middle of preparing content for issue 2 but I hope you’ll find another outlet for your work.
I’ll be getting in touch individually with you, and everyone who made issue 1 such a great publication, over the next few days.
Huge thanks to all contributors and purchasers.
Hopefully we’ll be back in 2012.

Well, interesting start to the day this morning. I was driving Mrs LL to work when someone decided it would be a good idea to drive into the side of us. No harm to anyone involved but our car's a write-off (his van is relatively unscathed of course)!!! So, on with the paperwork. Ain't life grand?

Hi all. As you know, I had a bit of a whinge recently but I'm better now :-) Thanks for your positive comments and encouragement. I'm in the middle of wheeling and dealing at the moment and I hope to have some good news for you soon. Onwards and upwards...

Hi everyone. I'm sorry that the messages from the Magic Cottage have been few and far between lately but, to be honest, I've been having a bit of a crisis of confidence. I've reached the point where I need to decide whether it's worth throwing more cash at the magazine or just walk away and I've been wavering. However, all of a sudden I feel really fired up again. We've recently received some fabulous stuff for Issue 2 and I don't want to give up on it just yet. The main problem is that we haven't received enough advertising revenue towards the costs of printing Issue 2. It is starting to trickle in now and we're going to be doing a business blitz over the next few days. If you can help in any way - either by taking an advert yourself or by pointing other businesses that you know in LL's direction - that would be wonderful. Thanks a million.

Just to confuse everyone, although the next issue will be published in mid-October it will actually be the November/December issue...it's a technical thing...so, no October issue this year. Maybe we'll publish two October issues next year to make up for it.

Okay folks, the Great Fracking Debate is alive and well in LL. Earlier this evening I spent over an hour interviewing Richard Moorman, CEO of Tamboran Resources Pty Ltd. Did he set my mind at ease, or was he full of you-know-what? You'll just have to wait for Issue 2 to hit the news-stands in October when we'll be presenting both sides of the argument in an extensive report on this most contentious of subjects.

Don't forget that LL is co-hosting Fiona McGuire's Hats & Lashes Party at her studio in Carrick-on-Shannon this Saturday (10.09.2011) from 8.00 pm. It's your chance to glam up, meet some fab, creative and energetic people and, yes, grab a nibble and a glass of what-ya-fancy.

08/09/2011

Hi everyone, and thanks very much for the positive comments. We're working away on Issue 2 - which is looking fab already - and we plan to publish it around the second week of October (it's every 2 months Penny Anne).

Does anyone know where my passport is?

30/08/2011

I'm apparently going to be on the Joe Finnegan Show on Shannonside Radio (97.2 on your dial) again tomorrow for a brief phone chat with the great man himself. At around 11.20 am. I'll try and give LL a huge plug if I get the chance.

29/08/2011

And our 300th 'like' is Helen McKeon. Thanks a million Helen. If you'd like a free copy of LL posted to you send your address to [email protected]

24/08/2011

Welcome to our latest 'like', Wendy from Albuquerque, New Mexico. How did you find us Wendy? We're kinda glad that you weren't our 300th like as the postage would be horrendous :-) Good to have you aboard.

Mad day in store tomorrow ('in store', did you see what I did there?) tearing around the county re-stocking, visiting new outlets, meeting lots of interesting and lovely people, and hopefully tying down my next BIG CHAT victim...er...guest. Wish me luck.

Don't forget that the Leitrim/Ballinmore Free Fringe Festival starts this Thursday, 25th August. Four days of fun & frolics (and LL will be on sale in various excellent magazine outlets!). You can check out the programme of events at the Festival website: http://leitrimfringe.com/

The First Free Fringe Festival in Ireland or at least in leitrim for sure. Gathering for the first time amateur/professional artists in as wide a variety of expressions as possible for” four days of fun and nothing but fun”for free.

23/08/2011

We're putting an advert in the Leitrim Observer tomorrow so the word will be spreading even more. We wanna tell the WORLD! Well, okay, maybe Roscommon, Cavan, Sligo and Longford...

22/08/2011

We're heading towards the 300 'likes' mark. As with number 200 there's a free copy of LL on offer to number 300. I don't know what we'll give to number 1,000 - any ideas?

22/08/2011

Filmed by Marie Conboy, iVenture Productions.

22/08/2011

A quick 'hi' to my beautiful niece, Lou, who has recently joined the Leitrim Lifers 'Like' Brigade...I'm thinking of getting some 'I'm a Leitrim Lifer' T-shirts printed up, by the way. Any takers?

22/08/2011

Busy week ahead for Leitrim Life magazine, with PR, advertising and continuing distribution for Issue No.1 and starting work on Issue No.2 for publication in October.

21/08/2011

Morning all. Hope you're enjoying your Sunday. Busy week ahead for LL so stay tuned for updates...

18/08/2011

I'm thrilled skinny (and if you know me you'll know that ain't easy!) to announce that LL will be co-hosting the Fabulous Fiona McGuire's Fantastic 'Hats & Lashes' Party on 10th September to celebrate the second anniversary of her business life. Stay tuned for more details...
