SECOND SEASON ALERT!
Overseeing every aspect of the art direction and design for the highest rated show on HGTV Canada, this fourth design package in a row for the Baeumler brand required a great departure from the colours and shapes we delivered for seasons past. Sourcing from the Bahamian landscape, vintage Hawaiian postcard embellishments, and classic television dramas like Fantasy Island, we docked here where all those references meet the Baeumler construction / deco duos biggest challenge yet. Based on the success of the premiere, there’s no doubt we’ll be delivering another season of design for this spin-off series.

We were brought into this project by Founder / CEO, Ben Goldhirsh, at ground minus-1. We began building these characters and the Mighty Business universe before programming had started ... before a name for the application had even been decided. It was a process unlike anything we'd ever done - counter-intuitive - but brilliant in hindsight, as we watched the decisions we all made together bounce back-and-forth, eventually flourishing into a complete brand. Now, I think these characters may have a life separate from the software. Look out Axelrod. There's a new team of badass CEOs in town, and they're in it for more than the Benjamins.

本作は、浅井宣通(WOW)の呼びかけにより、TOKYO(http://www.lab.tokyo.jp/)の谷川英司氏、ダンスユニット AyaBambi、東京大学石川渡辺研究室とのコラボレーションから誕生しました。

プロジェクトは、谷川氏が提案した「生命」をテーマに楽曲を制作したところから開始。楽曲から受けたインスピレーションを元に、クリエイティブ・テクニカルディレクター浅井とCGディレクター阿部伸吾(WOW)がビジュアル制作とプログラミングを構築。更にAya Sato氏がコレオグラフを作り上げ、谷川氏率いるTOKYOが映像作品として完成させました。

浅井が音楽から感じたインスピレーションは「Radioactive」。
「Radioactive」が持つ「破壊力」とそれによりもたらされる「死」「苦しみ」「悲しみ」、そしてそれらを乗り越えるための「祈り」。AyaBambiの圧倒的なパフォーマンスとともに「黒い涙」「スカル」「裁断される顔」「苦悩の能面」「般若心経」といったビジュアルがシンクロし、一つの作品へ昇華しています。

本作では、最新鋭の1000fpsプロジェクターDynaFlashと超高速センシングの使用により、これまで不可能だった激しいパフォーマンスも追従できるフェイスマッピングシステムを実現。プロジェクションされたイメージは、それ自体が皮膚の一部と一体化しているようにも見え、被写体の顔が変形・変質する際の表現力を飛躍的に高めました。ぜひ、Movieにてご覧ください。

The latest work to utilize real time tracking and face projection mapping using a state of the art 1000 fps projector and ultra high speed sensing, ‘INORI-prayer-,’ has been released. This project was born when Nobumichi Asai (WOW) approached collaborators Eiji Tanigawa, of TOKYO (http://www.lab.tokyo.jp/), the dancing duo AyaBambi, and the Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory at the University of Tokyo.

This project began when songs were created about ‘life,’ a theme proposed by Tanigawa, who acted as this project’s director. Creative and technical director Asai (WOW) and CG director Shingo Abe (WOW) completed visual production and programming based on inspiration they obtained from the songs. Aya Sato added the choreography, and TOKYO, led by Taniguchi, completed the project by making it into a video.

‘Radioactive’ is the inspiration that Asai felt from music. ‘Radioactive’ wields destructive power, and from that brings ‘death’, ‘suffering’, and ‘sadness’. And then, the ‘opportunity’ to overcome those things. Accompanied by the overwhelming performance of AyaBambi, a visual synchronization of black tears, skulls, faces being severed, Noh Masks of agony and
the Heart Sutra have sublimated into a single piece of work.

The face mapping system made it possible to follow intense performances, which was impossible until now, thanks to the use of the state of the art 1000 fps projector DynaFlash and ultra high speed sensing. The projected image looks like it is integrated into part of the skin, and the expressions on a subject’s face, when it is distorted or transformed, are exponentially enhanced.

Nothing is more exciting than the moment when the lights in the theater dim, and the logos begin - so naturally we were excited to be a part of the creative of this logo bumper we soft-premiered at a screening in Toronto at the end of August. Istic Illic Pictures is a Toronto based feature film production company whose moniker loosely translates to 'near, afar'. In just over a month we were able to bring this creative from brainstorm to the big screen. You'll see it next attached to Adam Bhala Lough's (The Carter, The Upsetter) upcoming feature targeted for festival release in early 2017.
