RECAPS

RECAPS RECAPS (Reclaim Culture Art Politics Sexuality) is an online magazine exploring relationships between RECAPS Magazine is a forum for conversation. Lee.

Our mission is to explore what emerges when content is brought together from different historical, geographical, methodological, aesthetic, and political vantage points. The magazine includes work that ranges from the canonical to the provisional, the abstract to the polemical, the timely to the archival. RECAPS explores the relationship between virtual community and embodied activism. The (re)pri

nt section is the most literal example but this line of inquiry structures the entire project. RECAPS attaches the prefix “re” in categorizing the content because the magazine is built on the idea that resistance is a process of repeating ideas, reworking strategies and reimaging what seems possible. “Re” reflects the belief that ideas are collectively produced and an engagement with the political present requires looking backward. RECAPS is edited by Martabel Wasserman with support from an editorial collective that includes Bdy Dbl, Rebecca Lieberman, Colette S, and Christopher J. It features regular design contributions from Rebecca Lieberman and a new logo by Remeike Forbes. As of July 2013, Alice Royer is the Director of Community Outreach. Questions, comments and submissions can be sent to recapsmagazine [at] gmail [dot] com.

Hospice Watercolors and Handsome Women’s Club by Heather Anne Welch | recaps

Missing our friend, Heather Anne Welch.

I’m starting a club, The Handsome Women’s Club. We’re not strictly against admitting men to the club, but they will be evaluated on a case by case basis by a panel of their peers. There will be no meetings or functions of any kind, no benefits and no dues. There will be some occasional opportunities…

There’s an Amazing Bit of History Hiding in Transparent’s Opening Titles

More from Zackary Drucker on the legendary Flawless Sabrina

The opening titles of Transparent, the critically acclaimed series currently streaming on Amazon Prime, are culled mostly from video clips of bar and bat mitzvah videos from the 1960s to the '90s—ending with the time code "JAN. 1 1994." It’s a nostalgic montage that alludes to a crucial turning poin…

Infinite Mirror by Matias Viegener | recaps

"The drone turns around to look. As if it feels guilt."

Read "Infinite Mirror" by Matias Viegener in our latest issue:
http://recapsmagazine.com/rethink/infinite-mirror-by-matias-viegener/

They are our spooky friends, the drones. You think they’re coming but they’re already here. You know that movie Poltergeist? Back then they still needed to come through our TV sets. Now they’re much smarter. There might be one under your bed right now. Two years ago I decided to prepare myself…
