Imran Khan's great success in the Punjab by-election, a clean sweep of 15 out of 20 seats.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Sunday won the by-election on 15 of the 20 Punjab Assembly seats, according to unofficial results.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) could win only four seats, while an independent candidate too grabbed a seat.

However, PTI has challenged the result of PP7 Rawalpindi, citing midnight rigging after RMS failure turned PTI lead into trail with a very small margin.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated his resolve of not giving any NRO to those who have plundered the wealth of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan, while speaking at the inaugural session of the International Chambers Summit 2022 in Islamabad, recently said that Pakistan is going to be the fastest growing country in Asia after three months.

Despite Pakistan’s economic turmoil, Imran Khan believes that the country is in a better economic condition than India. According to Khan, Pakistan has a better economic condition than many other countries in the region, especially India.

“In comparison to many other countries, Pakistan remains one of the cheapest. They (the opposition) accuse us of being incompetent, but the truth is that our government has saved the country from numerous crises,” the Premier added.

PM Imran Khan could be one of the main guests to attend the Beijing Olympics 2022, which will commence on February 4, according to the sources.

The Chinese government and the China Sports Authority are looking forward to PM Imran Khan’s presence at either the opening or the closing ceremony, or during the event, the sources told the publication.

According to the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) official, the authorities had received an invitation, he confirmed receiving one.

“Yes, we are in contact with the Chinese authorities and have received a communication. We have forwarded that to the foreign ministry through the official channel,” he said.

The Pakistani prime minister’s presence would be of great importance as some developed western countries have decided on the diplomatic boycott of the mega event.

The USA, Britain, Australia, and Canada have announced a diplomatic boycott of the event, while North Korea was the latest country to pull out, citing the pandemic.

Though athletes from around the world will travel to compete in the four-yearly event, no dignitaries from these western countries are expected to watch the games.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) , Khalid Mansoor, a couple of days back, had revealed the prime minister’s plan to visit Beijing early next month.

It is likely that during his visit, the PM would also witness the Winter Olympics.

It is not clear yet whether the Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr Fahmida Mirza, who is in the USA for the last two weeks and is expected to return within the next couple of days, will go to China.

“Once she returns we will be in a position to say anything on that,” an official said.
